  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Whats the good , bad , and the ugly on '12 TXC 511

Yes, in fact its considerably faster than Ty's KTM race bikes. Its possible to mod up the Kymco engine which is a remarkably efficiently designed engine.
I am concerned if the 511 will be noticeably slower than my 630 .

Are there any specs anywhere to compare ?
They've been posted but it's basically a non street legal TE powered up with a closed chamber fork. The transmission is the same on them. The TC is a 5 speed. I'm sorry but searching for the info on my phone is a PITA so I'll look for it tomorrow. Hopefully someone the human workshop manual (Tinken) chimes in. From what I understand, Hall's still has the workshop manuals on their website though

The 630 is great on the street, it has a really high 6th gear. Ty's souped up 630 would not make it to the top of the sand hills @ Red Mountain this weekend, where as the 511's or 501's went straight to the top.

Are the trans ratios in the TXC the same as the SMR ?
Yes, exactly SMR/TXC/TE. The TC ratios are the same too, except it has no 6th gear.

Can someone explain why these bikes need the oil recirculation kit ? Is it a must ?

I just installed the ZIPTY breather in the Valve cover and routed direct back into the Airbox. No OIl at the Moment unless i drop it upside down.

If you use +1150cc of oil and run at sustained high rpm, you will have a very oily air filter without the full recirculation tank.

Thank you guys for all of the answers , but its not over .

Since I plan to use it as a motard , does anyone make a caliper bracket and rotor kit to mount up to the stock hub ? or......?

Ok , I want to thank you all for the input and a plethora of info .

I think this will be my last question for now . Will my 17's off the 630 bolt up to the 511 ?

Hey Motosportz, where can I get some of those ultra cool red anodized bark busters and integrated mounting clamps?
Also would like to thank Tinken, and all you other very helpful people on this site. I have been an avid Husky fan since I was a kid. Am 56 now, got back into riding after hitting semi retirement and of course sought out a new Husky to play on. Got into a couple of 511s (2013TE, 2011TXC). They stalled, balked, and puked all over themselves, plus were not very powerful at all. After witnessing several outings of this, my riding buddies considered them to be total garbage. Everyone started telling me I should cut my losses and move to a functional bike that would actually run, and make some real power. They were happy to point out that none of other bikes stalled 2 dozen or more times an outing. Mean while I was falling in love with the handling and the motor WHEN IT WOULD RUN, but that was not for very long at a time. If it weren't for this site I would have threw up my hands in total disbelief & frustration, walked away from the brand forever like a jilted lover, and been forced to drink the orange Kool Aid like all my buddies suggested. Made the trip from TX out to SoCal last Fall. stopped in at Seat Concepts and ditched the factory 2X6 plank for a real seat. Much better now, thanks for the fantastic one day walk in service, You guys rock!! Then headed over to Zip-Ty Racing shop (great folks, Thanks Ty & Danny!) got the oil re-circulators installed, plus suspension lowered 1" & modded for my weight. Even better handling now and no more nasty oily motor at rest breaks, with all my friends horse laughing beyond control when I assure them "It's OK, Huskies all do that". Even after having my ECU re-flashed, and changing to an FMF pipe, my bike still flames out and stalls REPEATEDLY. So I have a PC-V & auto tune unit on the way. Hoping this is the last part of getting it dialed in to run fast, and STAY running. When it is behaving right, it flies past all those doubting neigh sayers, only problem is it stalls at the next obstacle when I have to roll the throttle back down...Can't wait to be done with that part. As soon as the motor is ready for a freshen up I will be getting it back over to Zip-Ty. I will have them to make my motor put out 60+ ponies too. It will be so rewarding when I check completely out on all those bikes that my friends adamantly suggested I swap into. Really bummed that the new brand owners failed to recognize what a gem they had in the CTS system. Do you suppose they were just a wee bit intimidated by the notion that maybe this other brand had seized upon a better idea than their own bikes employed? Funny how many Enduro titles these bikes earned compared to the sales and entry ratios of other "more successful" brands.

The front should but I'm unsure of the rear. Does it have a cush hub? I'm betting the axle size is the same.
