  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Whats needed if swapping a TC motor 449/511 for an TE/SMR?

Londin

Husqvarna
AA Class
As the title is saying!?

I'll say the below or am i missing something?
  • TC motor
  • TC Wire harness
  • TC CDI
  • TC Throttle body
All from same year ofcause

The snorkel/pipe between the airbox and throttlebody is different, sure there's lots of other little things too.

That's right the exhaust and the snorkel because of the throttle body! Just thinking if its worth upgrading my motor or simply getting a second hand TC instead!

You can use the TE/SMR tbi on the TC engine and you can use the exhaust from your TE/SMR on the TC. It's the same engine, just 5 gears on the stack instead of 6 and different cams.

My question is why do you want to?

Things you don't need:
  • TC Wire harness
  • TC CDI
  • TC Throttle body

Simply to get more power! Now your mentioning the gearbox....would like to keep my 6 speed!
Swapping the engine would be lots easier then modding the engine and that's why I asked the question! If it only was the cam then it would be less of a job but it all has to be tuned (need pc5) but also valve springs etc - can just see that I'll come across to many small things when upgrading and therefore missing out on racing!

Do you have to stay inside 450cc? Because TC cams will fit your head, port and polish, you can get a 511 jug/piston, megabomb, PCV should put you around 61-62HP.

The TE/smr tbi has twin butterflies and is better for creating linear progressive power. Not quite as reliable as the TC tbi, but I prefer the TE and it can be tuned.

Supermoto classes are <250cc, 251-450cc and 451cc+ The 450 class has the mst guys and is generally fastest.

Have to stay at 450cc but before I've gotten the TC cams, polished and ported and got it all tuned with a Pc5 that I have to buy I recon its cheaper to plonk in a 2nd hand TC motor!

That depends if a TC engine is cheaper than cams? Because the TC engine doesnt come with a pcv, port & polish or the exhaust.
