• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What year Husky?

Virgil

Husqvarna
C Class
Hey Guys (and Gals), Just signed up, I had a 77-78 CR 250, BUT what year exactly I can't remember. Here's some spec's I can remember: It was the first year for leading axle forks (9" travel) & Mukuni carb, it had the laid down non-rebuildable gas Girlings (9" travel) AND it had a 30 Day Racer warranty. Thanks for any info.

1978 gold rims....mikuni....gas girlings.....77 did have same forks ...bing carb...ally colour rims akront . shown here with shocks wrong way up and non std fork boots !!!78 cr250 1.jpg

What is your frame and engine number?

I think the '76 thru '86 husqvarna were the best rides for me. Every used husky I found was within these years. The late 70's and early 80's bikes were so simple to work on

Thank, Guy. It was a '78! One of the best bikes I ever had! Do these bikes count as "Vintage" in a Vintage class or is the cut off still somewhere in '73-'74?

AHRMA cut off is 1974, they consider 75 & up post Vintage ... 75-77 is Historic class, 78-84 is GP

I told my son yesterday to find out about the vintage racing in our area and do that. It seems like fun doing the vintage motocross.

I purchased my 4yo grandson a Suzuki Jr50. I also purchased the training wheels for it. Yesterday he was on it three different times. He's learning quick. It so neat to pass the torch to the next generation.

Those '77 to '81 250cc bikes are some fun rides. Heck I like anything husqvarna anyway.

Virgil, welcome! Once you start reminiscing about the good old days on your Husky, you are doomed to have to find one! Plenty of parts sources now days as well as great advice to be found on this forum. AVDRA (American Vintage Dirt Racer's Association) would class the machine as a GP1 bike (up to 9 inches of suspension, 1975 to ?) similar to historic class in AHRMA.

The 86 husqvarna 400 wrx I purchased for $150 all I did to fix it was adjust the shifter rod return spring to the pin on the clutch cover. Then remove the brown paint. They painted the bike brown. I sure wish these prices would return to the prices of two decades ago.

don't hold your breath on prices...."toys" are still a long way down the list for most punters these days

The WRX 250 & 400s were 1/2 year releases for 1985 . In 1986 they became Enduro officially but also replaced the WR line
