• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I am once again giving up two days of riding for Flower Beds, Mulching, Yard Work.

I might till the garden with my Husky instead of using a rototiller (Shortcut)!

What I want to give the wife's not always intrested in (wink wink :banana: nudge nudge)
My wife's happy with a nice breakfast in bed and a day with the family. I'm extremely grateful to have her and will do my best to make her day special.
 
I stopped off at Trader Joes and got my mom some flowers. She always loves a bunch of brightly colored flowers. And tomorrow she will dine out.:D
 
The wife is getting a 2# box of See's candy, a card with $200. in it, and I am preparing her favorite Polynesian chicken with saffron rice and BBQ corn on the cob. Might do a couple of other nice things for her as well.;)

:lol: I know what you mean! My first thought was "Will you marry me, Rajo?" But then I remembered I'm not a mom either and I'm already married...darn it.

I usually find a card on the counter signed in splotchy cat paw prints.
My kitties love me but their penmanship leaves something to be desired, for sure.

This will be my second Mother's Day without my mom. Unfortunately it isn't any easier than the first...

Mega-bouquet for the wife along with some engraved stuff from RedEnvelope for her & our newborn [baby picture frames (first bath, first solid food, first walk, etc) & a handprint kit for the baby].

iPod for my mother-in-law & flowers.

Embroidered gardening gloves & an engraved powder mirror (RedEnvelope again...) along with flowers for my Mom.

Flowers for my grandmother & my mom-in-law cooked a brisket dinner for her (for all of us).

You guys seein' a trend with the flowers :D ?

I bring flowers home every two weeks as a matter of habit. Lillies, mums, birds of paradise, tulips, alstroemeria, carnations, gerber daisies, almost everything that's grown in Colombia. I've discovered the secret of harmony. I buy my wife flowers as a habit. On the special days, she gets a mega-bouquet.

I could walk out of the house any day of the week and go buy a motorcyle and she'd probably give me a hug and say, "Wooo-hoooo!! A new toy!!"

BTW, I never buy roses. They're such a cliche. Especially red roses. Zzzzzzzzz. You guys that wait all year and then buy a dozen red roses are missing out on dozens and dozens of hall pass opportunities.

You guys should try it.....you'll be amazed at the improvement in your license to do the things you like. Especially when you bring the flowers home as the last ones are just starting to lose their petals and say, "I thought you needed some new ones."

It's like magic.

Eric used to bring me flowers every Friday. Sometimes a small bouquet of wildflowers, sometimes one beautiful iris just about to open, or maybe some tulips in my favorite color. I always enjoyed them temendously and it made me feel pretty special. We bought a house a few years later and the flowers stopped coming. I'd ask every now and again, "Hey, mister! Where's my flowers, huh?" and he'd laugh and say
"Hey, I bought you a house. What more do you want?" I was totally ok with that, but it took me a few years to realize the real reason: his route home from work no longer went right by the flower stand :lol:
I think there was a cute girl that worked there, too, just to add to his incentive:busted:

I had a really crappy day Friday before last, and Eric just happened to bring me 3 beautiful stargazers that day. Perfect timing on his part :applause:

Oh, congrats on your newborn, NC, and you get extra points for spelling "bouquet" properly :)

You girls are going to make me blush:o:o, especially since either of you would be the catch of a life time for some lucky guy.
This year is kind of special because Renee (my wife) has finally come to an understanding of how important family is. Through most of our marriage she has been pretty self absorbed and didn't participate much in the upbringing of our daughter but a chain of events finally woke her up to the joy of being a good mom and wife.
 
Rajo is indeed a prize catch but don't think his efforts have gone unrecognized. He's such a incredible person he's gotten acknowledgement on this day that's traditionally reserved for the Mom's of the world.

Welp... all three of the "men" in the house forgot Mother's Day (I'm one of the three).

I blame it all on the fact that this was a race weekend and the men were focused on testosterone-fueled, manly-man activities. It's NOT our fault! God made us this way.

When I awoke this morning (we got back from the races at midnight)... I saw a CNN news broadcast about Mother's Day and immediately puckered! I woke the boys and reminded them. We saved our lives by taking Mom to Outback for her beloved "Alice Springs Chicken". Whew!
 
No flowers, no special anything for the wife this mother's day. I don't care for calendar based "special days" and any other holiday and make my own mother's day several times a year. Flowers when she doesn't expect them, riding gear, a new bike, breakfast where ever she wants cooked by me or a restaurant. Kids help with it too if applicable. She's played mom and dad too many years for me to get caught up on a certain date. Our family is not complete without her no matter what time of year it is......

I'll be serious here for a moment...........
I stayed home and played full time Mr. Mom when my boy was almost 3 yrs old and can't say enough about the effort, patience and work it takes to be a mom. For myself I found the lack of social interaction with adults most difficult and to this day can't understand why the other mom's at the playground didn't let me and my 6'2" body into their little coffee/playtime group :excuseme::D Still remember the day I went back to work after 4 months and how weird it was to be amongst the "big" people and not having to bend down to 3' to have a 3-4 word conversation. I never belittle the efforts of a full time mom and believe going off to work it's 10X easier.

IMO, Mother's Day should really happen twice a year.
 
I was out for the weekend so my report is a little late but here is what I did....... two nights 3 days at a Beach resort at Dana Point. Sunday Morning at a French Bistro restaurant serving crepes with smoked salmon and amazing Cafe Mocha's ...( her favorite) three days of me around 100% spending 100% of my time with her and the kids at the Beach , future date for both of us at a spa resort with $300 of spa treatment gift cards ( no kids) .... no flowers but stopped and picked some wild flowers on the way home tonight.... she was not impressed with them:censored:.... some form of stinkweed:excuseme:.....looked great but stunk up the house in about 10 minutes.... but the topper was building my daughters 2nd grade shadow box diorama all by ourselves tonight ( due tomorrow morning) ( daughter instructed and I glued) without needing mom's help and letting her chill .......

And I agree about the flowers..... no roses..... actually flowers only when I feel like giving them.... not on calendar holidays....

...but mine was thrilled to get a TE310 for Valentine's Day.
