• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What would you pay???

I race a 2000 WR250 in harescrambles and have recently found the exact same bike for sale. The bike that I am looking at sounds like it has a loose rod bearing, and the tires are shot-otherwise the parts look ok.

What would you pay to have a parts bike like this, considering that Husky parts aren't always the easiest to get quickly...

That's a great deal...

How much do you think $400 buck would buy you if you had to buy new...

Not Much...

Now the next question - Do I keep it as a parts machine, or do I spend $200 to have a new rod installed and have a complete extra bike to use???

If its just $200 to have a new rod installed I would do it!!..think about it, $600 for a complete working bike!!

Thanks, but after taking it apart it looks like it will need more than just a rod kit. I think that I will just keep it as a parts machine.

One of the piston circlips is missing() and it would need a new piston kit, the carb to cylinder boot is cracked/rotted and I wouldn't trust it. Who knows what I will find once I split the cases...

The good - the rear suspension seems nice and tight, the forks are in ok shape (but need seals), and the rims/wheel bearings are nice. The subframe and seat are good. The gas tank is good so when I heat mine up and try to stretch it, if it leaks I can then use this one. The brakes are good. The frame is good as a spare(I can't imagine wrecking that but you never know)...

All in all it is an ok deal, but not the deal of the century. Considering that a clutch cable costs $55 from Husky, it will be nice to have spare odds and ends...
