• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What was your first bike ??

Jersey Woods

I live to ride !
Mine was a 1972 Yamaha Mini Enduro... It was a 60 cc two stroke bike that was perfect for my size.. That was and still is the bike I dreamed about for years and years.. I first saw one in I think 1970 or 1971 and fell in love with that bike the second I saw it.. I begged my mom and dad for one... My dad rode and so did my brother, and I wanted a bike of my own. Then one day in May of 1972 my mom and dad called me into the garage for something... When I walked in I saw this brand new bike... My dad gave me the keys and told me it was mine.. I can still remember taking it for my first ride and how my friends all drooled over it... Dam it was a great feeling.... And a memory I will never forget...

Mine was an Hodaka Ace 90. Bought it used in 1971 I think...I later pulled out that motor and painted the frame red...and bought a Super Rat Motor for it...Dean Daily (desert turtle Dist 37) built a pipe for it...fun bike for the time.

Mine was a 1974 Kawasaki KV75. It had fold down handlebars and would actually fit in the trunk of my mothers car. :)
It looked just like this:

thats sweeeeet...I dont remember seeing those in the states...I remember seeing a ton of HondaMini Trail 50's...

Yeah, a friend of mine had a Mini Trail. When we went to buy my bike, I figured they were similar. At that age, I didn't know the difference between a two stroke and a 4 stroke. I figured my bike was just faster because it was a 75cc vs 50cc. Although I did wonder why his sounded like a lawnmower...

Incidentally, IIRC, they were both 3 speed with a centrifugal clutch.

I think I have posted this before, but....my first bike was a used 1970 HT1 90cc Yamaha.

1970 Suzuki T90 with the dual range transmission. Street legal and I drove it everywhere. We bought it and the 1971 Suzuki T250 at the same time from the same guy. The T90 had 9 miles and the T250 had 131. I still have the T250 in my garage only it has 8091 miles on it now!

We had one like that when we were kids though I think it was a 90 and called something else, then my dad bought us a used yz80, after that I took a long dirtbike break until around 2000 when I bought a DRZ400E and got hooked as an adult, I've been broke ever since.

BSA Bantam 125 early 60's road bike converted to scrambler in late 66, ridgid arse frame-got belted by the Spanish invasion at the time-Bultaco's and Montessa's etc.PS I was only 11 at the time

Mine was a Steen X 100 with a leading link front end.Got it new in 73, I had alot of fun with that bike, but what a pile of junk. Spent more time fixing it than riding.
