  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What to add to a TE250?

Since many of you have lived with the late model 250, if you were buying a new 2010 TE250 what would you add?

I already have a WR300 for hard core dirt; this bike would be primarily a trail rig with very little pavement and unlikely to be raced much.

I think I have added it all besides the Power Commander! Obvious the first thing is a good skid plate of your favorite brand. Stock one is there to put back on if you sell it. Can't really think of anything needed besides skid plate being mandatory.

I ride in a lot of brush type stuff so I did put Moose "sock" type fork protectors on my bike new to keep the black from getting scratches. I also used some clear graphics on the frame rails to keep my legs from wearing the paint off the frame. Radiator braces just in case. All my other mods are just for my preferences. I did add the Leo Vince race ECU/silencer for better performance and no hassle riding. Next I am trying the 12 tooth front sprocket that some on here run. Purchase your oil by the gallon as it saves some money and change it often.

Also take a close look at your oil line where it goes into the filter cover. I had a fall that pushed the line inward causing the banjo to loosen up, luckily I caught it before the bike got low on oil. Now I am running the oil line in towards the motor so it can not loosen the banjo bolt. If you look at the bike where the oil line goes into oil filter housing you can figure out what I am talking about, hard to explain. It's a good bike, enjoy.
