• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What Shifter for Late left Licker 4 Stroke ?

1982 XC 430

Husqvarna
AA Class
I have one of the 2 piece 4 Stroke Clutch Covers. The Shift Lever I have doesn't come close to fitting. There is a lots less room between the Shift Shaft and the Cover, the Shifter is going to need to look much more like a modern bike one. I see that the same Husqvarna shifter is used from 1975 till 1988, and that's the one I have that won't fit. It looks as though I will be fabricating my own, but if somebody knows one that works let me know.
Anybody know what Bike this cover this cover was used on ? 1987-8 TC510 ?

I'm pretty sure Andy at HVA sells a version that will work with this. I would imagine that Halls would have one in stock as well.

sounds like you have the italian four stroke side cover and the shaft is smaller? i dont think the swedes ever had a 2 piece cover.a nineties italian four stroke shifter will fit. sorry i cant give more detail. i had one of these on my old 84 wr250..

I went to the Halls web sight and started looking at microfish and found it. 1992 WXE 610. Looks like the Shifter I want is 8000 69983. Not knowing anything about the Italian Husqvarna's I had no idea that the basic Swedish design continued on for quite a wile. The familiar Shifting design is a dead give away. Long after these bikes were Liquid Cooled they must of offered an Air Cooled model, that used this cover. Thanx for the heads up.

nope, they moved the pump to the head, allowing us to use the clutch cover on the older 2 strokes...a sneaky upgrade for the older bikes. that left kick case design lasted till 2002!

OK so its all starting to make sense. If it was that long of a run finding a shifter should be relatively easy.
