• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What oil do you'ns use in your Magura Hydro Clutch's

Hey, what you you Magura Hydraulic Clutch owners use in your clutch system? Regular Kroger Mineral Oil, Magura Blood, etc?

I need to bleed mine in an attempt to solve a Rekluse dragging issue. I want to move rather immediately to a left hand rear brake setup, so I don't really care to spend $20+ on a fluid if I can get by without it.

I have some blue magura fluid, circa 1997 (lol), that is left over from a Magura hydraulic brake setup on my old mountain bike. I wonder if it's the same stuff?

Thanks,
Andy

I prefer Vons or Big Lots mineral oil. Its the cheapest around for me. Actually i still have some generic mexican mineral oil from a pharmacy in Ensenada. Less than a buck for a good sized bottle.

I have some red dye if you need some.

My buddy uses ATF. Really.

Just make sure you change out the o ring for an x ring. And carry a spare/small bottle of oil for long or multi-day rides.

The guys at EE told me a while back to run ATF in the KTM with the Magura clutch. I think it was the F typy.

Singer sewing machine oil here. About 2-3 bucks at wal mart. It is the lightest mineral oil I could find. Gives a nice light clutch feel.

If you're just doing this temp, then just go cheap. Baby oil is the cheapest mineral oil out there, and it smells if it leaks!

After you get the Rekluse in, you won't need that silly lever anyway. Don't forget to install the little tube thingy with mineral oil in it. You'll need it!

Why use ATF instead of straight mineral oil as per the manual?

Because it won't damage the engine if it leaks into the cases, and you can buy it almost anywhere in a pinch if you have to.

Anyone try 5w fork oil? I have a ton of the stuff leftover and no 2.5w or ATF.

I run a rekluse so lever ''lightness'' is no big deal.
