• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

What happens when you hit a tree doing 30mph

This is what happens!! I was racing the Upton National enduro on Sunday. Made it about 5 miles before a tree jumped in front of me. Will need a plate and 6 screws. Good news is the joint is fine. No cast needed, just a brace for a week. Will be back on the bike in 5-6 weeks. Right now I'm flying high on Percocet to help with the pain, which is BAD!! My WR 300 came away from the accident with no injuries. Lucky!!

That looks painfully reminiscent of my own broken wrist. In fact, it started hurting in sympathy as soon as I clicked on your photo

5-6 weeks, huh? That's cool! Can't imagine being back on a bike that soon after screws and plates (I've had a few...) but you're probably younger than me

Heal up quickly and completely, and I fully expect photos of the x-rays and attending gore

Nope, did not break any bones in the hand, just the ulna right behind wrist joint. It happened so fast I don't know what happened. Hit the tree hard and knocked the wind out of me also. Laid on the ground like a fish out of water for awhile. Left knee is also swollen and sore but have no problem weight bearing or walking. Asterisks knee braces rock!!! Can't wait for surgery tomorrow. Doc said once he sets and pins it the pain should get better. Pain right now is at a constant 7-8 out of 10. Can't move my fingers without intense pain!! Trying to lay off percocet but it is the only thing that gives me any relief right now. I'll be able to start rehab right after surgery.

Hope you heal quickly

.....and now that you know how they look, I trust you’ll watch out for them stupid trees....

That looks almost exactly like a hit I took in the Santa Clarita river wash in 1973. That could be a picture of my wrist. My wrist was broken in three places. My left wrist is still crooked from that break. Make sure they fix it right.

Heres the after surgery pic. 7 screws and a plate. Wrist feels better already. Dosn't hurt everytime I move it.

Looks like you need to take a file or bolt cutter to the screw ends on the opposite side of the plate ;) ..

Here's wishing you some quick recovery time ...

The sport we all love for sure has it's up and downs!!! Heal quickly and you will soon forget the pain and ROCK AND ROLL AGAIN!!

Sad to say but most of us have been there in one form or other. You seem to be taking it well! Attitude will help things along. Keep at it:thumbsup:
