  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc What engine is this? I know is 125 thats it. Year and type?

That looks like a 98-01. I think they went to the V-Force reed valve in 02. The bolt on sprocket is different though and I haven't seen that in the 00 and 01 motors I have worked on.

Do you know where the cables from the stator goes? Its 2 yellow and 2 black/red

Looks like an WR/WRE Bastard- its possible to swap the big clutchcasing to a WR/CR style to operate the powervalve without the electric motor

Wiring sounds like some kind of bastardized set up. Pull the ignition cover and take a pic so we can at least guess at what you have.

The wiring is WR 1999 and the old stator had 3 cables, one for the earth on the coil, one for the coil and one for the regulator. But on this engine its 4 cables, 2 yellow and 2 black and red

The WR lighting coil is producing AC and typically one lead is grounded at the stator. If it has two yellow leads then probably they are providing that ground wire to be brought up and sent with the other hot wire to a rectifier/regulator to be converted to DC. The two black and red wires are the issue. One is probably to go to the coil and the other is probably to go to ground at the coil. Now if this has been converted to a CR ignition then forget all that and you should have a red, green, red/white, and black/red wires. All these would go to a CDI. There would be no lighting circuit. This is why we need to see the setup with cover off and preferably with the flywheel removed. Something has been changed obviously from standard wiring.

The stator is the same as on WRE and SMS, is not a CR or WR stator
