  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st What did you do to your Husky today?

If it was a wosner that seized?
Dont know yet!Havent opened up engine yet. Will inform as soon as I do.
What piston kit is best and will I have to fit new cylinder too?The cooling system was level water and I always use premixed petrol with Power 1 Castrol 2T oil at 50:1.
When the engine seized ,I was only doing a steady 120 kph,no drastic RPM change ,like shifting all the way down to 2nd gear!So ,very strange the engine seized!Spark plug all good and air filter cleaned ....

If it was a wosner that seized?

do you have bad experiences using wössner juicy?

I do use them as they are easy to get- never had a problem with

On the 125s i will recommend to drill the 2 holes onto the exhaust side to lubricate the exhaust port- if this is not done- the engine will seize- thats my experience with the 125 engine.

Seems I've had 2 experiences and heard of plenty more with wossner pistons.
Just curious as it only seems husky size issues.
I doubt it's the plating company as they're one of the best in the country.
Poeton.

UPDATE
Havent seen Piston make but did remove the head ,to see if I could see anything !Saw this below :(
I dont have time to do the work myself ,so I will be taking the bike to a reputable bike shop but they will still want me to source the parts.(will ask them to check the piston make ,so I can tell you guys!)
There seems to be heavy damage to the cylinder wall!Seems to be on both circlip sides****************************************New cylnder oe is it repairable??Appreciate any suggestions ,advice and what best to buy!

Yup that looks salvageable. Re plate and new piston with rings, grab a little end bearing as your there.
Looks like cold seize how long has the engine been running before seize?

Hi juicypips,Thanks for the feedback. Its my 17 year old sons bike and on more than one occasion ,I have told him off for blipping the throttle a bit too high, with cold engine, for my liking and always told him to pussyfoot the engine for at least 5 to 10 mins!So when you say,it looks like a cold seize,I hear warning bells. He says he been cruising along country lanes for 10 mins when it seized!Don't have anyone here that does replating, only in Spain.Do you have a contact I can use in UK.Notice you in Gloucestershire,do you know Dan of Turner Racing Developments in Stroud Or Lloyd. Allard in Quedgley.I work with them.....

Yeah I know Dan only by a friend who gets her car sorted there, yup I highly recommend http://www.poeton.co.uk all my cylinders get sent too them, send the piston too and say what clearance you want.

Not heard of Lloyd Allard, i work in nailsworth for g.e.e. making Morgan chassis.
Tell your son he's paying for the repair that may scare him.

Thanks for the link,appreciate it.
Small world ,hehe For years I did some remap files for Dan and mostly VAG TDis
Lloyd Allard shared a workshop with Dan ,in Quedgeley and is known for aluminium products especially intercoolers and TDI EGR valves. He comes from the Allard family ,now living in Monmouth Wales with his dad Allan and his grandad Sydney Allard even built Allard cars in 60s and Lloyd is at the moment rebuilding them and making the chassis himself too.

Just for the record ,its a Vortex piston!
Nothing broken or entered cylinder .Cyinder is all scored and the nicasil has been damaged,so has to be replated :(..Bikeshop says its lack of lubrication ,eventhough I do my own premix 50:1 at home with Castrol Power1 Racing or Motul 710 !
Now deciding where to send cylinder off too!Usually the bike workshops here in Portugal send it off to Spain, but its about 1 month waiting time, (there and back and the work) but Juicypips has kindly supplied a link to a place he sends his cylinders to and I now await a contact from them.

Changed it over to all white, also scored a bunch of little OEM pieces on eBay for $20. Odo cable & fork bracket, acerbis headlight, sprocket cover, air box lid, voltage regulator, yellow rear fender, and an original set of the plastic frame guards that aren't cracked. Along with a bunch of other little things and a 3lb bag of bolts. Got all the lights working, $50/year for street legal reg and insurance...great bikes for around town

Did an OEM clutch pack and the oil inspection window on the 165 last night after work. The window leaked from day 1, because the brake pedal had gouged it. Did new cable and cleaned front brake tonight, fresh Mob1 0-40 too, then took her out for a spin. Warmed it up good, about an hour of slow rock hopping and cross training in the drainage ditch, then 20 miles of WFO on the local fire roads. Nice new cable feel and no more drag at all. Still notchy 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 1st and 1st to neutral.
Not a big deal, because I don't need 1st much or neutral, but a little worrisome. Next oil change gonna' try something different, Rotella T6 or maybe some 80w gear oil
128 hours on the meter and basket still looks good. Steel plates weren't scorched and fibers were at minimum spec. Last few rides there was some drag and fade started after @ 2 hours of WFO riding.
PO said @ 30 hours on clutch, so 70 hours total and that's pretty good for a tiddler.

Yup I will be fabricating some out of t6 Ali sheet 3mm with delrin cross braces, used to have some but took then off as they were beat up.
And were out of scrap Ali that wasn't strong.

Oh I ordered some gpi rads, here on wed so see if they fit.
