  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

hi all i have a09 te 450 and am finding it a bit heavy in the woods so would getting a new 250 4t or 250 2t fix my problems :confused:what are the pros and cons or should i stick with the 450 ps.. the 450 is verry good when the tracks start to open up

I personally love 2 strokes, so I would go with a WR but 2Ts aren't for everyone. If your good on the clutch, love to row up and down through gears, and have a pretty good throttle control skills the 2 smoker will reward you ten times over! If your the type of rider who prefers a "lazy type style" stick with the 4T. Be honest with yourself about your riding style and much you want to "work" and cant go wrong with either, each having distinct advantages and disadvantages. 2T-better handling, lighter, cheaper to buy and to operate/maintain(by a large margin over the years), can be a handful in slick conditions, more powerful than the 4T 250. 4T-bottom end power, great traction everywhere, can be ridden "lazily" without too many consiquences, more frequent/higher priced maintenance. If money allows it I think it would be awesome to keep your TE450 and pick up the 250 of your flavor to compliment your existing TE.

That's the truth!

I cannot bond with 4 strokes, so its an easy decision for me. You need to ride a WR and then decide for yourself.
Opinions on this topic are worthless...... IMO :D

im looking more at the wr250 just dont know how it would go with all that clutch riding in the woods ps.. and yes you can be very lazzzzzy on th 250 4t i just want to get the best out of my riding ps.. im no pro rider????????

I have ridden hem all extensively. I cross the 2st / 4st fence EZ. Both will feel substantially lighter than your 450 even though they are not that far off. My 2010 TXC250 feels (and might be() lighter than my buddies 07 WR250. IMHO my TXC is a much better bike, handles far better (new frame) and has no issues keeping up when things open up. The WR offers simplicity, no engine braking, excellent power and a stone reliable package. The TXC/TE offers E-start, smooth motor with far less vibrations than a WR, good smooth usable power, excellent handling, better suspension.

So in summery IMHO the 2010 and up 4stokes offer a higher level of handling and refinement, while the WR offers a great motor. Both will feel lighter and work for what your asking. Try to snag a ride on both and see what works for you.

a test ride would be good well maybe keep the te 450 and get a wr250

Well that would work. :)

You want me to move this thread to common topics or the Main forum? It is quite possible most of the 2st people may not look in the 4st forum.

I love the two strokes and own four of them. The reason I like my four strokes is for when I have to add a lot of pavement in. I have a couple of friends who started out on four strokes a couple of years ago, but have since discovered two strokes and would rather do serious trail work on those over the any four stroke out there.

I understand what you are saying. I did find though the 2010 TXC250 is a great off road bike that has a lot of what people want 2st more for. It is very light feeling, lighter than the WR250 on the trail. Has excellent power and puts it all down. Is an amazing hill climber (again, excellent usable power), just does not have that big cumbersome 4st feel and the compression braking is minimal. Nimble with a smooth long reving motor. Just food for thought. I felt it was a trade off getting a 4st in the past, weight and handling, not any more. Have all that and the smooth hook up motor to boot.
