• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Wet mod in stator case

HS507

Husqvarna
A Class
Has anyone had success buy putting atf or antifreeze in case to cool stator and keep water getting sucked in from heat and keep from deteriorating

Great read. So, next hows it done correctly, after market cover with filler cap?
Also whats best oil? Rotella, atf, fork oil, gear oil? Haha please guy lets not fight over this part.

I kind of have to agree. It is a great idea if you have the know how and might increase its life but for my bikes with a dry case ill leave it that way. Not to say it cant be done or discussed of course.

Many thanks no matter opinions, in 80s this access was impossible. Love this forum

haven't looked at the above stuff but Jeff Slavens has these mods on video on his webpage. I did squirt a little MaxiLube into the starter gear assembly on my TE300. My bike never cranks cold but I never think about it, I always kick start first thing on the day after she warms up the e start always works. for me that's just normal function, I don't give it any thought.

The vids I posted are the Slavens Racing ones.

Bought a Beta cheaper than KTM and the starter works. No crying here. Kinda sounds like you're the whiny bitch!
I love when people make excuses for companies that do shitty work.

Yeh sorry racemx but ktm have stitched up thousands of people with these starters over the years. Surely they could have come up with a proper/better design after the first couple of models?! Other than that great bikes but starter let's em down badly(admittedly post 13/14 are better). I'm sure they'll have a new design this year or next.

Man how diplomatic was that^?! I should be runnin a gubberment somewhere ;)

hey all let's keep it civil. your bike your choice of what want you want to do with it. myself I prefer to keep it as much oem as possible.

It appears the 2017 engine has the starter mounted differently so a new design and new problems are coming. I plan to kick mine when cold since it's very easy to do and only use the button when required.
My 501 as well as many other new husky bikes don't come with a kick start but can be added if preferred.

Where do you guys go for inexpensive starter and parts?
Any maint tips to make it last longer, this is my first starter bike.
