    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

125-200cc Were to get suspension work done on 2013 wr165

So my 2013 wr 165 has 90hrs on stock suspension which has work good for my 195 pound weight but its loosing it rebound control and bottoming out a lot more, just getting that clapped out feeling like I am overiding it. My speed has also gone up a little this year now riding at b level speed and that might also be why it not working as good. So were should I send it for a good off road settings or lots of knowledge on this bike setup. I live in Canada so shipping sucks to states but willing to spend more if work is better. I also stud my tires in winter and ride in colder temps and wonder if i would be better to just wait till spring to get suspension worked on since winter riding is just fooling around on ice and snow and suspension setting are not so critcal. Thanks for any help.
 
Just had all my shocks serviced - New oil and recharge, No new parts or valving although one is a ex factory shock and all work just as they were intended too, The oil that came out was more like pond water than shock oil and the rebound clickers are now back in the mid settings and not near maxxed out.
As for getting them revalved only you can decide if its a must as I put a stock shock back on my 165 and actually think its plusher than the ex factory item.
 
I am surprised you have gone so long without doing anything .
I went up one weight level on the springs . From memory .44 FR and 5.4 rear ? I used a standard 310 rear spring . You are slightly heavier and you could go slightly heavier .
I noticed some difference in the whoops - improvements
You need to get sag right . I have noticed mine does still bottom out .
It was revalved but I haven't played with it too much .
 
I'm 205 lbs and I went 4.8 front and 5.6 rear. I was on the border of going 4.8 front and 5.8 rear and now that I'm riding faster I wish I would have.
 
250 is also a heavier bike though lank
I get concerned that too heavy a rear spring may take away from some of the light feel - flickability .. the stock spring is only a 5 ? If mines a 5.4 I think 5.6 would be good

Yes, that's true, I was saying that if your recommended spring is on the fence you might consider how you will be riding the bike and go stiffer with less preload to get your SAG. My WR 250 is perfect for the really slow technical tight stuff (flickibility is A+) but when I'm in 4th and 5th it can get a little soft feeling. My son who is much faster than me in the fast stuff calls it a sofa bike. lol Possibly the stiffer spring with less preload might work better.
 
Yeh my 13 wr165 is .48 & 5.8 which seems pretty good & as you say doug as ya speed improves ya can hit stuff harder without fear of metal on metal clunking! Gota get sag sorted correctly but overall seems good. Nice launchin drop offs without worrying ill break somethin. 300 has .50 & 6kg springs went bit heavier due to extra weight of bike. .50 borderline too heavy though i reckon. 105ish kg (230lbs). Riding 125 stock was punishing for me & the bike!
 
Thanks for all the help. Ya I could tell bike was undersprung but like Lankydoug said feels like comfy couch is nice in places like Maob or nasty single track. On oppsite end I have a 12KTM 250sx that has harsh suspension that works great on freshly groomed track but suck when it get rough espically the forks and off road is terrible unless really fast. I took wr 125 on track couple times and it felt like I was going to break something so quit doing that.

Am using WER setup on a 125 wr- pretty good stuff.
 
Sent my suspension to LTR today which sucks being from Canada and shipping to us and exchange rate but after talking with him and his knowledge with Sacks shock and my older generation of Husky bike I am sure he will do a good job.
 
Les is great to work with! :thumbsup: Lots of good suspension people around just need to find one and then work with them until they know your needs well.

As long as it was slow and nasty it was ok which was lucky are second last race was a real mudder single track rocks with lots of roots,hills and suspension worked great for that I actually won. Can not wait to try out new setup.

In the future remember that when the rebound goes away and the bike starts kicking off stuff it usually means the oil is fried. Now that you will have it sprung and valved correctly it will just be a matter of servicing it.
 
I have a buddy that is teaching me right now how to service suspension. Currently we are working on wp forks and shocks off are mx bikes which he is very good at but that Sack shock he has no idea about or a proper off road setting. After I get mine done we will have a good starting point.
