Well I made the trek to look at the all new '10 TC250 and of course whatever else was on the floor as I'm in the market for something as a change of pace to my '09 CR125 and thought a Husky thumper just might be the ticket.
First I looked at the all new '10 TC250.
Very appealing to the eye.Skinny and nice and light feeling and boy that's as much room in the engine compartment you'll find as far as thumpers go! Sitting and bouncing on it sure felt good though a bit tall but no worse then my '09 CR125 so no biggie.
Next up was a leftover '09 TXC450.
No doubt it carries a few more pounds then it's new baby bro the TC250 and it's a little wider in the mid-section but hey you had to figure that right? I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it felt when I sat on it and an added bonus was the seat height.Hell this thing sits lower then my '09 CR125! Heck and how can you not like that little ole magic button. It starts before you even disengage the thing.
Took it for a short test ride and boy was the motor smooth and magical feeling and it carries it's weight really well once in motion.
Now I had a '08 TE450 and an '09 TE310 and the TXC450 carried itself so much better then those you'd hardly know they came from the same parents so to speak. While I found the TEs way too top heavy the TXC was so much more balanced and lighter feeling.Hell if I know why as I think the TE310 and '09 TXC share the same frame if memory serves me.Well either way all I can say is that the TXC reminded me of my RMZ450 and I'd never mistake either of my past TEs for that.
At this point I was going to try the '10 TC250 just for giggles as I knew that there was no way I could suppress pulling the trigger on the TXC450.
Unfortunately I can't give you an impression of the '10 TC250 as both units would not fire.Squirt of the throttle and choke on,find TDC then just past and not a thing.I don't want to doubt that they may be easy to start but I'm telling you I've had many thumpers as has the owner and they did not want to fire for anything.Sorta gave me early YZF flashbacks.
So needless to say I'll be picking up my new '09 TXC450 on Sat. and I couldn't be more looking forward to it.
