• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

well there it is the PR7

Is that an oil reservoir hanging off the front of the bike? Coolant overflow? Seems like an odd place to put a plastic reservoir of any kind right behind the front wheel. I'm sure a bash plate will protect it, though.

Is this video portraying the final exhaust design? With all the talk about Euro4 emissions, I'd think a catalytic converter would be required. Even if the cat is only required for Europe, I'd imagine one would be used in the US (if not by law then for economy of construction) instead of having another designed exhaust.

Thanks for the vid, Troy. This bike has my attention (and also the SWM Superdual), so I hope more and more vids keep coming.

Yep, that's the Husky 630 motor. So sad that it appears SWM has not addressed the clutch issue on the motor. The clutch cush springs and cup washers are not up to the task and start top go to pieces from the beginning. SWM and AJP have been made aware of this... but the new generation of customers are still destined to be "victims," in my opinion. How F*****G sad.

I must have missed in that video where they showed an in depth view of the clutch system.

I did notice the push/pull throttle housing that only had a pull cable installed

No video, but photographic proof is here on CH if you look. An (Australian I believe) CH member recently bought an oem SWM clutch basket assembly for the 650, and posted pics of it. It is the same as it was in the Husky era of the 610's and 630's, no noticeable upgrading. Many photos on various sites of the low mileage clutch basket carnage on the 610's/630's.

Note in response to above- push pull throttle tube is for carburators, in case the slide gets vacuum sucked and can't move especially to close, FI bikes are using the butterfly type assy. doesn't need push pull.
I'm sure AJP has simply sourced all their throttle assemblies from Domino (or other, but it looks Domino) and all of them are push pull type same so they can use the same assy on all their bikes no matter what configuration they are....makes complete parts support sense as well as $$ sense. Or, Could also be that Domino was selling out of their inventory of carburetor stuff and AJP reaped the cheap benefits. There can be many scenarios most aimed at cost cutting I'm sure.

Nice looking bike.... funny thing is I always removed the push cable..... I'm sure the use of that assembly means nothing more than Domino had a bunch and AJP got at a discount.....

The 2nd cable could come in handy. I had a 2nd hand Honda XL 600, with the push/pull throttle cable. I had the pull cable break out in the dirt, well away from the pavement. I was able to swap their positions and got about a 1/4 use of the throttle. It was enough to get me back out to the road and call for a pickup. Braaap!

I've never had a cable break... I replace yearly... Since your talking xl500 it's not common.... Less moving part the better

Ktm n husky still run the 2 cables in their FI 4ts don't they? Only Sherco who don't or is it jus Sherco that runs 4t style throttle on 2t with one cable?

Dear Wife, I am fully aware I do not have time to ride my current 2 bikes, no I am not gong 2 sell my HUSKY, no the 300 is safe 2, yes I want a AJP PR7, no I cannot take my dog with 2 work, could you drop him off ? Yep this should go well for me. Last thing, 2 my English teachers, yes I really was sleeping, and do regret that- would you buy me a PR7 ? Thanks. Well I got a plan anyway !
