• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well I couldn't help myself - 1983 500 XC

It is the IT motor. My 84 was re-sleeved when it was my Dad's to a 232 back in the late 80s. After many miles of smiles and on its last bore, it had a ring catch a port. Found out that I can get it done again all these years later thanks to the Blaster motor being modified in same manner. However I believe the gear ratios were changed to better suit an entry level quad rider and the larger rotating mass of the rear end.

Oh and the Banshee has the wonderful RZ 350 twin. God how I wanted an RZ****************************************

It is originally derived from the '77-'81 DT175 engine, which is similar to the '77-'80 YZ125, '77-'81 IT175, RT180, Blaster 200 and IT200. All of those engines, while not identical, share most parts and almost everything will swap from one to the other.

Damn craigslist! Rainy day, just relaxing and checking the web before I go over and see my father this evening. WTH! 1983 500XC for $600!!! And 15 minutes away. Resist. Resist! I have always wanted a twin shock air head but was looking for a WR400. I guess the lure of a black and blue kicking foot, paint shaker like vibrations, 100 mph plus stock gearing and guaranteed loop outs was to much for me because it is now mine. Will not take much to make her rideable. Front wheel bearings, some adjusting, getting it running 100%. Even came with a title. Guy I bought it from knew nothing about it and got it at a estate sale. The estate dude was the original owner and hence the title. Amazing. Then I figure out what to do with it. Look forward to doing stupid stuff on it. Let the fun begin.
