• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well I couldn't help myself - 1983 500 XC

She should handle well and stop nicely!
Have you reworked the rear shocks yet?
When to you get to ride it? With all the mods your brain will be on sensor overload!
Keen to hear your thoughts on the lectron upgrade

Rode it. 70 miles of gnar. Works well. Carb needed a little dial in and then . Front brake was VERY welcome addition. Forks worked better in the faster stuff / bigger hits but not quite as supple in the rock gardens. Ergos are way better. Bike is working really well. got some vid and more pix I'll post later.

doesnt look out of place at all...nice work...does it seem to damp much better? are the kx forks externally adjustable at all?
remember what i told you about making your clutch pull easier if youre interested

Much more damping and rebound adjuster on the bottom. More control but a little less supple. I prefer them over the husky forks for everything but rock gardens. I replaced the clutch perch and installed a terminator clutch cable. Pulls pretty EZ.

the bottom bearing is close but not right. I need to address that. Work for now but not right. The top bearing I lucked out and found a GasGas top bering made it work and fits perfect. I got lucky there as it fit the KX stem and matched the husky race. Will be addressing the lower bearing soon.

Yes. Thats my buddy Luke....hes using that beast as his primary XC bike this year. It gets the job done !

aren't the gear ratios all wrong because of tire height difference??? i know blaster motors areEZ to find but wouldn't you need an IT 200 trans?????

quads use final drive gearing to make up for it. the blaster motor is from a 70s yamaha dirt bike i believe..much like the banshee motor is derived from a line of their streetbikes
