• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well I couldn't help myself - 1983 500 XC

I saw it, almost called but figured it would be gone + I have no room for another one in my trailer. Glad you snagged it up.
If you decide to part ways with it let Old Geezer know. He might be ready by then.

craiglist virgin here . can u search for world wide ? or have to select location first ?

Try searchtempest,
http://www.searchtempest.com/
"Can I choose which cities or states (or countries) to search, instead of searching around a zip code?
Of course! To choose individual states or cities instead of searching by zip code, click the "Search by US state or region" link near the bottom-left of the homepage. Or to search other countries, click "Search worldwide"."

Damn craigslist! guess the lure of a black and blue kicking foot, paint shaker like vibrations,

Never had a black and blue kicking foot. They can take a toll on the center portion of a riding boot if used enough. Should be able to lug it down enough so vibration isn't an issue. Perhaps you can see how I think the modern airbox is inferior. Really noisy close up but the sound doesn't carry too far let someone else ride it around and see.

I go to craigslist and click on city, Medford Oregon or redding california. Go to motorcycles click on all dealer and private party then type in husky in search bar. It should be one of maybe 10 ads. This guy seems to have a bunch of stuff.

Yup that's it, looked interesting. A lot of Hondas I couldn't see if there were a few huskys tucked in there somewhere

is this the one? Dont see many huskys in there.

I'm pretty sure that is the same guy that has been around for years "selling his collection". I talked to him about 5 years ago because of a bike he said he wanted to sell. All he really seemed to be interested in was what bikes I had in case I had something he could hustle me out of. I know other guys who had a similar experience.

Nice tactic.

where is my magic wand to wave at this bike and make this happen?

Nice score Kelly, get your teeth fillings checked before you ride it!

I've heard that balancing the crank really helps these things with vibration. Yet to try it on mine.

one of the aussies here balanced a shocking vibrator he had with excellent results, its in a thread here somewhere, I think it was dukkman from memory

Spent a few hours yesterday and few tonight messing with it. Its alive! I made a makeshift air filter while I worked at getting it running. Put a new plug in it and rolled it down the hill at my house. Almost got to the bottom with no start but was popping. Last second I pushed the choke further open and boom, off she goes. Guy I got it from could not get it started. The choke was only half open and needed it all. I can see just kicking it you would never have much luck unless a friend stood there and held the choke down. Anyway, she runs great! Let it warm up, got a nice butt massage while I waited. Was never fully warmed up and might not have been started in ages so was not expecting much. It was slightly cold and a little blubbery but ran like I expected. Huge torque and wheelies at will. The long loose suspension of the time cracks me up. Reminds me so much of my old CR480 Honda. Huge comfy seat, huge power, lots of vibes, long uber soft suspension. Look forward to a real ride on it which looks like it will be sooner than later. This bike cracks me up.

This bike is actually in pretty nice condition the more I look at it. A few things to address and upgrade but overall a nice start for sure.

Getting there...
