• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My name is Chris, I am 44 yo, live in So Cal, and been riding motorcycles since I was about 7 years old. I have pretty much been a Yamaha only owner for a long time, but after researching the choices and with some friends advice I went Husky when looking for a dual sport bike. So I picked up a new 09 TE450 on 5/9, I can't wait to get a couple hours on it so I can open it up.

What else is in the garage? For my 39 mile commute to work through some of Los Angeles's worst traffic I ride an Yamaha FZ1 and I race in the AMA District 37 Desert series on a Yamaha WR250F. I also have a Yamaha quad in the garage right now.

Been cruising this site for a while. I have owned a 81 430 composite (CR/XC 80,81,82,83,85) bike for about 6 years and enjoy some post vintage racing now and then. I am currently researching possible intake and exhaust upgrades/changes. I am hoping to optimize my midrange and add some overrev.

Regards,
PC

Hi PC....

Welcome to the forum.:cheers::applause: I'm the Vintage Forum moderator. View the 430 jetting thread and maybe Picklito can offer up some of his tips for you!

I like the way you use "Composite":D:D!

Hi All,

I'm thinking about buying a new Husky and heard that this is the forum where all the cool Husky riders hang out :D So thought I would join and try to get some info. I'm thinking about trying a 09 TXC 250 or 450 just not sure which would be best but I'll check out some threads here and see what kind of info. I come up with.

Cool site

Welcome HSrider, It really depends on you type of riding, ability and where you like to ride.
TXC 250 is a great bike and the 450 is just a little better.:D

Thanks for the welcome and I'm a Senior A rider but don't race much anymore do a lot of trail riding though. Never tried a 450 and was just thinking about giving one a shot and the Husky seems like it might be the one. Our trails aren't super tight but here and there we hit some tight stuff. From what I've read though they seem to handle it fine.

I have to say I'm even more curious about these new 09 125s and the Husky dealer I would be getting the bike from is currently riding one of them so maybe I can get a leg over it some time.

Again looking forward to the great info. here

Hi guys,

Yeah, I'm new, just thought I'd introduce myself.

Just bought my first Husky...... :)
an '06 TE610, which I obviously picked up second hand, but it had a legit 32 kilometres on it......was near on brand new.

I'm sure I'll learn a lot from hanging out on this forum.

Cheers,

Hi All
Drew Smith here from W.E.R. I'm very impressed with cafe Husky and happy to see all the enthusiastic contributors. I did extensive suspension work with Scott Summers GNCC team last year and have just purchased A 2009 WR-2stroke to continue testing.I am heavily involved in events in the norhteast and do alot of work for dual sport & trail riders so we are not focused on race only applications. See us at www.werproducts.net There's alot of basic bike set up info on the site that can be a big help regardless of brand. Best Wishes.

Welcome Drew! :applause:

I moved your post into the introduction thread from the aftermarket parts thread so more people can see it.

I want to personally thank you for spending time on the phone with me... maybe 18 months ago discussing a few things such as trials tires.

Hope you can visit often

Hello All-

I recently purchased a 2005 TE450. Im in the process of going thru the bike and getting set up for my liking. I have installed a JD Jetting kit for 6,000 + ft and have begun experimentation with a RaceTech Gold Vale (1) kit. The online matrix for the valve stack given my weight and riding style is close, but no cigar. I have made adjustments to the mid valve shim stakc and am no in the process of dialing in my main stack.
