• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Welcome to me and some advice

Hey there, New of the forum and looking for some advice.

A bit about me, I'm a hard enduro rider from South Africa (JHB), Not sponsored (or really noticed) but i love the sport. I currently ride a 2011 GasGas ec300 and a 2014 Husky TE250.

I have been riding the GasGas for about 2 years and love the bike despite the small part issues this side. The bike is very predictable, solid on faster bits and really easy on the throttle.

Now i know starting off i probably should have got a TE300 (Many mates have said over and over) but the option was not available for me and i got a great deal on the TE250 (pre-owned).

So my issue is, the GasGas is really taking a knock on training hence the reason for buying the Husky, but i am finding the husky a lot of work for simple tasks like slow "tractor" throttle up steep and lose climbs and pivot turns.

1. I have put in the green spring and turned it in all the way but i still find that as soon as the bike breaks traction on loose shale it spins quick and hits power band.

2. I have to really de-weight the bike and give a handful to get her up for even a second.

3. the weight or really the distribution of weight is great and it makes the bike feel a lot lighter than it is but i find when you are in 5-6th pinned the bike really likes to float and does not have a grounded feel.

The bikes tuning is good, played around and its as good as we can get.

Is there anything i can do to get this bike to feel more dare i say "300-ish" or should i just sell it now.

If you feel i have left anything out just let me know.

Thanks

It's not worth spending that amount on the husky.
Appreciate the feedback! Id rather sell it and save the hassle.

Try the gnarly pipe and going up a tooth in the rear. I think you will like that setup. Also just for kicks try the yellow 2 turns in with that pipe and gearing setup. Thr gnarly adds a lot down low.

Got a quote for the 300 piston kit, its way out of budget. R16,000 (990 Euro).
I had a look at the FMF Gnarly pipe, its 310 Euro here..

At the moment i have parked the TE250 and rebuilding the GasGas EC300.

Thanks for the replies but i have someone interested in buying it as it's not the bike for me.

Map switch? Richer jetting? Get head machined/squish? More teeth on rear or one less on front n gnarly as stated.
