I was riding the other day and kept bottoming out the suspension on my WR250. I was thinking I could go a hell of a lot faster if my suspension wasn't bottoming out and causing me to bounce all over the trail. Then I goth to thinking...
I have springs and a re-valve from LTR for a 200-210 lb rider and here I am at 236 lbs.. Plus at 6'6" I'm putting more leverage on my bike then a much heavier shorter rider.
I decided then and there (90 days ago) I was going to lose weight. Sunday I weighed in at 205 lbs and it was a nice enough day to go ride a bit,
especially for December. I rode faster, more relaxed and more in balance then I had in a long time. This also made me fatigue a lot less and it was much easier to stay standing longer. All this got me to thinking about how much money we spend to shave 10 lbs off our bikes and mods for more mid range or top end when the best mod I've done in a long time was lose 30 lbs of rider.
So now at 6'6" and 205 lbs, I can still use the name lankydoug but in truth my son, who is 19 years old and 6'9" and weighs the same as me, holds the lanky title in my household not to mention he smokes me riding his 2011 YZ450. I attribute that to his youth and although I can lose a few pounds I cant lose the years.
