• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

We need 2 threads.... "The is, what it is." thread and the "The the was, what it was." thread!

I'm getting a little worn out, by all the comments about what is and isn't a Husky and you know all
the rest. It reminds me of Thumper Talk, when there was no Husky Forum (I'm not going to even touch, where TT Husky Forum is now). You'd put a Husky post in the Exotic Forum and you would get..... "My VOR, Husaberg, insert Exotic Brand here, doesn't do that." Or you would get the.... "They haven't made a real Husky since, blah, blah."

I was one of the handful of people who asked for a separate Husky Forum and got berated by other Exotic Forum users for it. We only got it because, one of the TT owners had a fleeting interest in Husky, when they introduced the street legal DS bikes.

We've got CH now and a place in it for every part of the Husky World. Let's make a place for the Austrian Huskys, just like there is for Swedish, Italian and German ones. Being on the '12 Husaberg TE250, has given me an insight into what is coming with the '14 Huskys. Other riders have been on KTM XC's with linkage, so can give feedback. I'd rather share info here, than on TT or KTM Talk, but I don't want some hater in my face, every time I post.
.
If you don't like a certain flavor of Husky, just enjoy the ones you like. I like my '03 TE610E DS, but don't like TR650's. I wasn't happy BMW killed the 630, but I don't spend my time bashing these "BMW" bikes, I just stay with the bikes I like. It is probably a good time to add an "Other Bike" section for all our Husky friends, who will be looking towards, Gas Gas, Beta, Sherco, OSSA, Fantic and others. There are good people here, who don't want to transition into Austrian Huskys. I'd like to see them stay around and enjoy reading about other exotics. I'm the first to admit... I didn't always feel this way!

I'm done being a "KTM Hater". It sucks too much positive energy from my life. Husky had 26 years to get it together and they didn't' get it done. I'd rather see the Brand survive, than have it killed completely. If anyone doubts my "Husky Credibility", go right ahead... I know what Huskys I've owned, ridden and raced and I'm pretty secure with it. That is a statement of fact, not arrogance. The Husky riders who want to go forward with new bikes, let's enjoy them together and we'll enjoy all the other flavors of Huskys, that we like too.

Don't really need a big response; agree 100%

Without CH I'm not sure how we would have worked our way thru the WR125, the blackhead and redhead we have now.

Can't wait to be on the leading edge of the blond coming up!

Infraction, you have just received a warning and now must ride a Husaberg :D

Norm, I get everything you are saying but this just got dropped on us and people need to vent. It will blow over in the next few months and we will all start to sort the KTM supplied huskys. I'm not sure how you stop it in its tracks here, it just needs to play itself out. Many if us husky guys have endured a lot of harassment from our KTM friends and now our Italian huskys are KTMs so we need to vent. And yes, this site needs to be inclusive of all huskys, Swedish, Italian , German and now Austrian. I think it is we are just going through big changes and people are venting one way or another. The nice thing about a forum is it is voluntary. You can choose to not read the KTM / husky posts and choose to ignore certain members you find toxic and you end up just reading what is important to you. Hope we dont loose any good people like yourself over any of this. We all need to step back once in a while and realize we are talking about toys we play with here not life and death issues.

Amen brother.

there's "german huskies"?

r
To me the 449, 511 and 650, are German Huskys, plain and simple. There is no way these bikes would have been built, if it wasn't for BMW bean counters! The X-Lite 450/510 would have come and 630 was a good bike.

Anyway... I'm done looking back at the "German Years"!

Yeah. Some are still in negative denial stage. I think speculation stage was the most fun. Wait till we get to the final stage of "ownership" where members here will be deeply in love with their new white Husky that absolutely rips... And "you know it's just a KTM" comments will get old, die off and the positivity will creep right back in. It's just a process.
I've gotta oil the air filters for my Xlites right now and load em up... Later!

Totally agree with you too. Someday I'll tell you guys, what I really think of what went down with BMW and Husky USA! Vent away, ladies and gentlemen, because that's what I was really doing anyway!:oldman:

i know but its the whole rebranded argument, 25 years of husaberg and no more they were renowned animals then ktm got involved 2000's wasnt it? and they slowly lost there reputation. i mean yeh if they started as toyota and came out with lexus then thats cool but they did it the otherway around!
im no hater im no slater but i think the name of husky will be all thats left i pray im wrong but its a strong fealing this is a bad move for the brand.

i love cafe husky and i love all the folk that frequent it and i hope this community isnt affected as the comeradery is why im a member!
