  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

With 92.4 hours on this top end. I decided MAYBE, it was time to open it up and re-ring it / look things over. I think the longevity of this setup speaks for itself.

I can't believe how great it looks. I mic'd the new ring and old ring. the used ring with over 90 hours was .2 MM thinner than the other. Not bad!

Enjoy...

John,
I had 60+ hours on the ring and 110+ hours on the piston when I swapped in a new piston kit for mounting on my new '12. The ring was still good with ~.016" end gap and no sharp edges. The piston had .00225" of gap and the ring groove was still near perfect. At that wear rate I would expect 200 hours per piston. Of course everybody rides different and uses different oils and mix's.

I have also had one rider with pre-mature bore/ring wear. So it is always best to check your top end about every 50 hours. These are custom parts and while the vast majority will get exceptional wear and life, it is better to be safe than sorry. If anyone experiences this kind of early wear please let me know and I will take care of it.

lessee 10k rpm x 60 x 100....that's like only 60,000,000 cycles.

ack! my brain just melted. :p that's some damn fine products mr. beanz!

i want Dr. Beanoil to make my 3hunny into a WB 365 with a speical 32oz flywheel and CR ignition, after stock stuf wears out. could you imagine? i'll just drop the whole bullet off at the shop when i come up to Kalispell ta visit the fam Walt. BA-BANG-BANG-BANG...BAAAARRROOOOOP! *taking off in third with no wheelspin* :D

hows the rod/brg?

No idea... I think they are ok, but maybe I'll have one of my buddies show my how to check??

This bike has roughly 274.4 hours total on it.

That is from the previous owner, and myself. The previous owner wasn't easy on her either I don't think. I've ridden with him, and he isn't afraid of a few downed trees.

He was harder on the bike (not afraid to toss her on the ground) than the motor.

He did seem to do that from time to time, much more often early in his riding career...

I got 88 hours on my last ring, piston has 124 hours on it now. These bikes rule!

Later,

How many rear tires do you go through in 92hrs?

WOW, great question!! I have no idea... I could take a stab at it, and say roughly 5-7... Never thought about tire use in terms of "Hours"

I have a new front ready to go on, and I'm not sure I've changed the front since I 165'd it... Maybe once....

LOVE THEM MOTOZ...

92 hours, we average about 12-15mph so say 14 = about 1300 miles. 2 rear tires, 1 front. About

heading out to destroy some more tires.
