  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

Pipe & Silencer = DynoPort Big Volume 144 pipe, Husqvarna Euro3 long WR125/150 silencer
Other engine mods = EFM Autoclutch
Gearing = 14/50
Premix ratio & fuel type = 44:1 93 Octane non-ethanol (4 gal 89 unleaded non-ethanol/1 gal 110 leaded race gas)
Temperature range (deg F) = 25-45
Elevation (feet) = 1000-2000
Main jet = 178
Pilot jet = 48
Needle = JD Blue
Clip position = 3rd
Air screw setting = 1.0-1.5
Slide = 7

Conclusions/Results = Bike has no bogs or flat spots, lots of torque and very smooth top to bottom. Can start in second gear, has first for steep and slow and still very fast in sixth gear.

I am currently running the 36mm Keihin carb and the exact same jetting as on the 144cc top end but with the following changes. I had to back out to 3 turns on the air screw and drop 2 main jet sizes. From a 175 down to a 170.

Dwight you have an Up-Tite 167 that has been massaged by Walt, not a WB165, correct? I running same jetting as my 144.

I remember when Kelly and I took it out for it's maiden voyage, he was saying the jetting wasn't messed with from the 144 kit that came off it, and it did run super strong.... Seemed spot on with that pipe...

Correct. I was way rich on the Main jet with the 167. Jetting should be the same on the 165 and 167. Only 2cc difference. The UpTite kit has a spacer plate and the WB165 doesn't so the 165 should have more crankcase compression. I do wish someone made several sizes smaller pilot jets for the Keihin. It actually needs leaner than the 35 that is in it. I am 3 turns out now. I was 2 3/4 turns out with the 144cc top end.

09 165
38 keihin no mods(damn) will send to RB when I return from Beer Drinking...I mean riding/golfing
35 pj
2.5 turns out as
NEZI #3
182 MJ
#6.5 slide with a #8 on the way to try
FMF Fatty for 200SX

All this is moot until I get back as I have the 144 on now

2007 Uptite WR167 with EFM Autoclutch
38mm Mikuni TMX Flat Slide
32.5 Pilot Jet
6DJ8-60 Needle 2nd Groove from top
3.0 slide
390 Main Jet
Air Screw 1-1.5
Power Now Insert on intake side
Stock Pipe and Spark Arrester
Power Valve in the middle of the arm.
Runs pretty good with the Mikuni but will put a Keihin on soon.
Elevation 300-1500 ASL, same as Norm

Here is a "blank" template for adding your WB165 bike setup. Norman had a good suggestion to include Gearing in the list (it's included below).

This thread will remain separate from the 125/150 Jetting Database, while everyone works on the development of this bike setup. Later, I will merge the posts into the other database after the product matures.

You should copy and paste this list below into your reply. This will help keep a common format.

Conclusions/Results = Runs and idles perfect. This motor is so awsome it makes me giggle everytime I ride it! Rips everywhere. No soft spots, just smooth progressive power.

I agree. Mine surprised me all weekend. Did everything asked of it. the 14/52 gearing with the Pirelli MT16 110/100X18 was a great choice. The new pipe seems to work well. Just need a pipe guard.

Dwight,

P-3 is making the mold so that we can all order the pipe guard for the 200 SX fatty from them.

Year & Bike Model = 2008 CR125, now WB165
Carb = Keihin PWK 38mm with RB divider on outlet side and low circuit mod.
Pipe & Silencer = FMF Fatty KTM 200SX custom fitted by Walt.
Other engine mods = CR flywheel + 7oz. weight, Stock PV spring (I have Walt's spring kit for testing later).
Gearing = 13T front, 50T rear
Premix ratio & fuel type = 36:1 Amsoil Interceptor with 92 octane pump gas.
Spark plug = NGK BR9EG
Temperature range (deg F) = 45-65 F
Elevation (feet) = 0-1000 ft
Main jet = 185
Pilot jet = 48
Needle = JD Blue
Clip position = 4
Air screw setting = 2.75
Slide = 7.0
Conclusions/Results = Today was my first ride on the WB165. I initially ran my 125's winter jetting to be safe. Temperature today was 60 F. Actually, the jetting turned out to be pretty close. I had to turn my air screw out to 2.75 turns. The pilot will need to drop one size to 45. I also did a WFO throttle chop test and the plug looked good with a light chocolate brown color. For now, I will leave the main jet alone. Overall, my bike pulled clean through the range so I don't have any complaints yet. I'm loving the 165!

UPDATED: 21-April-2012
Changed jetting to the following:
Spark plug = Changed from BR9EG to BR8EG
Pilot jet = Changed from 48 to 45
Air screw setting = 1.5 turns

Conclusions/Results = Temperature today was 50F. The 45 pilot was good and my bike pulled clean through the range. As the temperature warms up, I will need to double check the main jet. Right now, the plug is light chocolate brown so I'm happy.

The first part of my ride used a BR9EG plug. The jetting was acting up from idle to 1/4 turn. I played with the air screw a bit and improved it some. I felt my cylinder head and it was only moderately hot. I decided to swap the plug to a BR8EG (my favorite plug when running my 125 previously). This worked much better and my engine finally ran cleanly like I wanted.

Year & Bike Model = 09 WR 165
Carb = 36mm PWK Airstryker
Pipe & Silencer = Modded Pro Circuit KTM 200 Pipe & FMF Turbine Core Silencer
Other engine mods = N/A
Gearing = 12/52, will probably change to 12/48 ish....
Premix ratio & fuel type = 40:1, Lucas Oil Premix & Premium Pump Gas 92
Spark plug = BR9EG
Temperature range (deg F) = 25-75
Elevation (feet) = 0-4000
Main jet = 178
Pilot jet = 40
Needle = Suzuki RM125 Needle
Clip position = 2
Air screw setting = 1.5
Slide = 6.5
Conclusions/Results = Seems perfect for the PNW...

Why all the fat main jets?

my stock 125 is perfect with a 172 near sea level (1000-3000) and it has less vacuum than the 165 would, in theory. I'm only wondering cause chances are good the 125 is getting a big boy hat and becoming my sole woods ride :cheers:

I wish I had an easy answer for you. The 165 just wants to have extra fuel on top:excuseme: . I also had to lean out the pilot/slide so that makes sense.

I haven't settled on my final jetting, yet, so I won't do the whole list. However, I can attest to my kit's need for a fat main jet--I've got a 190 in my 38mm PWK.

Dave,

I am far higher than you and I am at a 182 and feel at times that I could go bigger when it is colder. Then you have guys with stock 125 jetting with good results. I am still completely baffled by the varience in jetting from one Husky tiddler to the next. You should pipe yours up too as I think it helps a little on the jetting. Pm me and lets talk.
