  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Today I got to do a 30 mile shake down run on my WB177 and it's awesome!
At first I couldn't keep my wheel from breaking lose,so much addicting power on tap! once settled down I was doing trails 1-2 gears up from when it was a 165,it just tractors off the bottom end and then you're quickly in the power band with as much go juice as you desire.
This was my first day and I told myself to just go easy but I had to try this one trail that is steep, tight switchbacks with log jumps, two miles all uphill!
I usually make it once or twice in ten tries without falling, today I made it first try,the power was there at the critical times when before it was lacking and I failed, this mod definitely will make me a better rider.
Thanks Walt for building a great motor,I'm more than pleased!

I just bought a 2012 WR with the 177 Walt Kit and holy cow what an engine and what a bike!!! I feel like I have found THE perfect off road bike. I have a question for you though; did Walt advise on what type of pre-mix he recommends and what ratio? I have only ridden my bike once and cannot wait to get back out.

I run a 50:50 mix of Amsoil Dominator/Interceptor. I mix at ~45:1 but I am a lugger. I run ~97 octane fuel. It is a mix and I like it and it is very stable. I think the best thing to do is to use a top quality oil and stick to it. Don't use a bunch of different types of oil, pick one you like and more importantly has a history of working well for others. Just because I like the full synthetics and have had excellent service from them doesn't mean that you have to use that oil. Just make sure you know the positives and negatives of an oil and mix and maintain your motor accordingly. Let's not start an oil thread! ;)
