    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Voltage to Coil from Stator and Ignitor

My 2008 TE 510 has no spark. I tested voltage from the two leads going to the coil, which I gather to be one from the stator and one from the ignitor. Test was done from each lead individually to a good ground. The voltage jumps around a bit at cranking but I got roughly 9.8v DC from each of the leads. Anybody know a range for that reading? Based on some YouTube searching I'm lead to believe that the voltage from the stator should be a good bit higher and an AC current(?!), and the voltage from the ignitor less, like 1v to 4v and also AC. Now this was from a moped, but one with a CDI. Searched this site but could not find any reference to these values. Thanks,
 
Mys suggestion would be to isolate the stator at the connectors up by the throttle body. Measure the resistance of the various wires per manual, and then find the two wires (green and red on my 07, 08 is different I beleive) that are the pulse trigger coil. The small rectangular sensor on the inside of the stator. Measure those two wires for resitance and they should be around 100 ohms. If you are reading an strait up open, your trigger pulse coil is bad. This is what ended up haunting my 07 tE for a good month of trouble shooting.

Hey can I ask what did you eventually figure out the problem to be ?
I've got no spark on 2008 TE 450 and I'm running out of ideas..

If I'm right the 2 wires at the primary on the coil one comes from the ECU already voltage regulated and the other leads of to other components I was thinking like a common ground maybe but I'm not getting nothing there on the meter turning over the motor.
