• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Seems like a very competent bike, everything stock or has zipty done shocks and you shoehorned a rc8 motor in the frame?
 
Nice, impressive razor sided ridge line. That did look pretty steep in the last few seconds of vid.
No scenery or terrain like that in Texas......but a zillion miles of fences

It is and I knew it was there. Was tempted to climb it but did not want to loop a bike on top of me while alone. That section is tough to make it over as it forces you into one line and is vee'd out clay. I think I could have done it.
 
Little air cooled AJP PR4 climbing a pretty steep climb after 2 inches of rain. FUN!

Wow, another option??! I keep wondering what's the "best" bike for these rutted & rooted NW single track hills. Freeride? Husky 165? Sherco 300i? 200 2st of some flavor? TE300? Now AJP?

I tried a 450 slant 'Berg last week, and it's just too heavy to be "great" in that application. Trials bike works great. Wish I would have had the KDX 200 with me for comparison.

Forget the fireroads and racing for this question, what's your current favorite for climbing in the tight woods with nasty hills?
 
yep, AJP PR5 is REALLY good at the NW technical gnar. The 4 is to but more of a smaller 5/8th style bike. Super fun but ultimately I'm sure I am faster on the PR5 and it is real easy to ride in the gnar. Basically if your small and love to trail ride the PR4 is going to be really hard to beat. Its freakishly fun too. If you want to ride with your full sized bike buddies bring the PR5, it is fun, light feeling and smaller / slim and just gets the job done. Probably one of the easiest to ride technical bikes I've ridden. The PR5 makes other bikes seem big and unruly and the PR4 makes the PR5 seem big and unruly. Both are a hoot to ride. AJP has nailed a lot of things and these are very good bikes right out of the box.

The last time we went riding I almost fell over sitting still on the 449 because the ground dropped away where I decided to put my foot down waiting for a jeep to pass. I heard a big laugh behind me from my lady on the old IT! I love my bike but there are surely times I miss being able to flat foot on both sides on the IT. Even though I'm 6'1" with a 36" inseam, there are times on tight trails that the seat height of the TE messes with my confidence.

The "oh shit, don't stall, and don't f@*&ing stop here!" thought can really screw with you. :lol:
 
Had no problems hanging with the TE310 on my PR4. What a fun little bike. We traded off some. The AJP feels 40 pounds lighter and half the HP. :)

Dont think thats going to happen. Thing runs perfect as is. The idle is so steady it is ridiculous. No bog or issues anywhere. Runs perfect. Although I might be testing hop up parts in the near future so who knows.
 
Walt I need a BB 280 - 300 for the PR4. I'm thinking my heavy muscles will require a little bit more hp/tq. :D. I didn't let my SC go with my WB165 so I'll let you how it runs with that after my AJP PR4WBBB kit is installed.
