    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

V Force reeds in CR 500 83

Hi I would like to install the V Force reeds in my Husky CR500 1983 model.
Anyone know the part model of this reeds to install or to adapt?
Any experience there?

pretty sure moto tassinari wasn't around back in 83 but you can get Boyesen reed pedals for the stock reed block cheap & effective [1 800 441 1177boyesen ] or the hot trick from theday a Mossbarger reed block 1 800 891 1615 mossbarger was way badass back in 83 yes those are US phone numbers
 
I just installed one of these in my 83 Maico 490. They make a direct bolt in for this bike there is no modification, so they might make it for the Husky as well, and who knows it could even be the same one. I just rode the Bike in the Desert 100 Washington State which is a Desert Race but really a fast Trail Ride. There is a lot of riding that is off and on the Pilot Jet and Needle. I will say that the power is very crisp. However when You compare the stock Reed Cage to the V3 the Stock one is just a Big Hole with Peddles. The V3 has a Square shaped Port leading into the Reed Cage with a small wing in the middle. By looking at the two one would think that the stock one would out flow the V3 by far. However Air Flow dosn't always work the way it looks like it should. I am surprised that the leading edge leading into the Port has a sharp edge, and not rounded at all. As the Rubber Boot from the Carb is about 5 mm larger all the way around this makes for a pretty good port mis match. This all makes me wonder if this one or any V3 was really intended to be used in a open class bike or was it really intended for a 250. Its very tempting to place it in my Bridgeport Mill and open that baby up. But worked very well for the ride I just did the way it is. If all I was concerned about was MX and getting to the 1st corner at WFO I'd sure like to see a Dyno comparison.
 
Bill Eyler at East Coast Maico made a few kits at one time, had one in my '83 250CR and still have a brand-new unopened one will be using on my '84 CR500 project
 
yes the new mossbarger has sharp edged fins to direct the air to each pedal looks like it flows like crazy and they cover your bike

besides that i put boyosens in mine and it made a decent improvement to power down low / midrange

Hi. thank you for the replies. I saw this conversation and he do not have anymore of those VForce reeds.
I think that an adaptation from another bike will be the job to do. I cannot find any reference for the old Husqvarnas in moto Tassinari, and they do not reply my emails.
Is there a better low end with this reeds?
