    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Unstable at 75 mph

Took my 630 out for a blast last night and while on motorway the bike became really unstable at 75 mph, so much so that I have to back off, slowly took it back up to the same speed and it actually start to snake at around 72 mph anybody else have this? Almost seems dangerous to ride. The bike is all standard as it came out of the factory. Cheers Jono.
 
They should be fine well above that speed so something's not right! Check tyre pressures first, make sure rear wheel is aligned correctly and make sure you're not hanging onto the bars too tightly. (That might sound odd but if you hang on to the bars to keep upright from the wind blast you can cause the same effect as over tight head bearings).

If these things make no difference then please take the bike back to your dealer for further investigation.

Thanks for quick reply. Went straight to the petrol station and checked tyre pressure all okay, dont think i was hanging onto the bars to much, not to much cross wind etc think I need to see the dealer.
 
Stock as it came out of the factory, I am not an off road rider bike is to get me back and forth to work so I thought factory settings should be fine.
 
Bike has done 1000 miles since purchase in September 2011 snaking came on very quickly, nothing at 65 - 70 then at 72 is noticable at 75 I thought I was in trouble.
 
Rear sag is how far the rear end squats down when you sit on it. If the rear end is too stiff, that can screw up handling.

There are so many factors at play that can cause your problem.

Suspension setup

Wheel alignment

Steering bearing preload

Tire pressure

Wheel balance

Tire tread
 
Had exactly the same problem. Spoke to Zupin (the German importer) on the `phone and was first advised to lower the front. Then to adjust (stiffen) the rear suspension. No change at all! Then I had the wheels really thoroughly balanced, And the wobble is now gone. I sometimes get a (very slight) wobble at certain speeds, but then it seems to cure itself. It´s definitely is due to wheel balance (and/or loose spokes). The suspension setup optimises moto usage and necessitates very correct wheel balance at higher speeds on the motorway (for which the bike was not designed). You just don´t seem to be able to get both (agility AND high speed cruising).

Got mine back from the dealer and he told me he lowered the tyre pressure to 1.7 n 1.9 bar fr/aft.
With a fair bit of wind it wiggles a bit at plm 140km/h, caused by a car I was chasing. If out of the slipstream (was plm 10-12 meters behind him) it was much better. Mind you, if u wear clothing that flap around stability will be affected also..
I'll start with pumping the tyres to 2.2-2.4 (michelin pilot power), see if it helps :-)
 
had a similar problem,had changed front tyre to a dunlop 606 put compression adjusters in forks & added a lynx fairing & scotts damper all at on once & couldnt ride the bike over 105kph{fitted rimlocks as well}very bad head shake,after the dealer was scratching his head,we re fitted standard front tyre & removed rim lock & rebalanced & rode the bike & was 90% better, still need to do more testing,will watch this thread more closely for answers & opinions{will set rear sag before next ride}
 
Today i rode mine to the limit with factory spockets (15/45) 165km/h (105mph) and it runs smooth. I belive that feeling any kind of vibrations at that speed would be unnoticeable...this was just a topspeed test! :)
 
your rear pre-load, if at factory setting, is too stiff and must be softened especially if you weigh less than 200 lbs.
 
One simple thing I found is relaxing my grip....I had the same initial feeling an that helped a lot. I don't know how bad yours is....so its probably attributable to some thing else but thought I would mention.

I agree. When I get the weave and loosen my grip/take my weight off the bars it goes away. This is probably easier to do if you have a windscreen and 70mph wind isn't trying to pull you off the bike.

I tried loosening my grip (and tried a great many other things suggested by other bikers). I still get a bit of a wobble over certain kinds of motorway surface and under certain conditions. But checking wheel balance seems to have cured most of it.
