    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hey everyone,
Just thought I would let everyone know that my 2010 MX season has unfortunately came to a screeching halt. Last Sunday, a couple days ago, I dislocated my knee which resulted in a broken fibia and fractured tibia along with all the MCL/ACL/etc. tendons and ligaments being torn. This is obviously NOT how I planned on this season ending and it's kind of a bummer. I am told that I will have to have 2-3 reconstructive surgeries and a TON of physical therapy to get back to walking normal again..........what sucks is that I might have just been part of my final MX race. My wife is about to graduate CRNA grad school in December and having several kids is on our short list to do; with that said I would just as soon be healthy enough to raise and play with them the older I get. Just thought I would pass the information along. Thanks for all the good words and comments throughout the years. I will be parting out all my aftermarket parts and selling them if anyone is interested (off a 2010 TC 250). It might take a couple weeks for me to get someone to wash and disassemble my bike.....so please be patient with me if you are interested in something. Thanks again!
 
thanks for the update get well soon. think about Valentino Rossi and how he came back from the compound fracture.
 
MX is hard. You did well. Heal quick, have some rug rats and take them riding. It is not the end even though it may feel like it. Take care.

Sorry to hear this : ( MX is a tough sport. Maybe you should give it a few months to think things over? You could still ride, maybe not (or not as much) motocross.
Hang in there man. One positive note is, after surgery and during the healing process you do get to spend more time with the kids. I hurt my knee and had to have surgery right after my son was born. Even though it was a tough time. The time I got to spend with my son was priceless.

Too bad and the important thing is to get well ... You have plenty of time to think about bike riding later ...

Bike riding is a very dangerous sport ... Trails /tracks /street..... this fact just usually is on the back burner ... UR life, lived in a healthy manner, is much more important than all the mx tracks combined ...

This sounds like a pretty traumatic injury, mxer, and now might not be the time to be making life-changing decisions about never riding again.
I'm really sorry to hear of your injuries, but if you're thinking about starting a family then I'm going to assume you're still young:) I'm willing to bet the healing process will be quick and complete, and you will be able to do all the things you want to do in the future. At least, that's what I'm wishing for :thumbsup:

I quit MX and started doing enduros due to the fact that there were far less riders trying to get in front of me:) I felt more in control of my own destiny, thinking as long as I didn't make a mistake myself that I'd probably be OK, and much less apt to be caught up in another riders' catastrophe. It's something to think about farther down the road.

Sorry to hear this. You are a great advocate for the Husky brand and I hope you heal fast and well. Start working on those rug rats soon and someday you'll be living your MX dreams through one of your kids and putting around the tracks and trails like an old fart whose first priority is not getting hurt... like me. :lol: :thumbsup: :cheers:
 
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I honestly did not post this with the intention of it coming off like a sob story....simply wanted to keep everyone updated. While I currently do not have any kids, that is in my wife I's future when she graduates. I would like to think that my motorcycle off road RIDING days are far from done but my mx RACING days may be done with. I look forward to a full recovery and eventually getting back on a bike. Thanks again everyone.......I'll update this thread as I progress through my surgeries. Peace

Man Blake, so sorry to hear this. Hopefully you will make a quick and full recovery. Being in such good shape I'm sure you will recover better than the average person. You will be back out there again some day. Like others have said, it may feel like the end, but it isn't. It's just a bump in the road, or a set of whoops if you prefer. Good luck with the surgeries.
 
The MCL/ACLs are gonna take some time and rehab depending on the degree of injury ... those bones will heal back on their own but you want them straight I'm sure ...

You'll be back on a bike if you want to ride again ... Nothing says you can't ride on a track again but maybe do better risk assessment upon UR return .... :) ... I sometimes finish last but aways have a good time and get a good laugh out of it ... Then there was the time I won a moto :banana:
 
Sorry to hear about your injury Blake, your head and heart have always been in the right place..... it will work out just fine in time.

One thing I learned after injury is to play lame and have the wife do your dirty work..... you certainly won't be able to make the bed, pick up your socks, take out the trash or even shower yourself (work that one for as long as you can to save water):)

Do what the doctor tells you, and you will be healed in no time:thumbsup:. Whether or not you ride again can be made in the future. I know the last time I got a concussion, I was pretty scared, but time passes and I realized I don't have to 'pin it' all the time. ;) I have really enjoyed doing both the HS and MX, I think it makes you a better rider, plus you get to see parts of the state you wouldn't normally get to.

Sorry to hear this and I hope you have a quick and healthy recovery. Could this possibly be a blessing in disguise? Take time off and play with the rascals (hope I'm not jinxing you). Maybe you will end up being a great teacher or coach of the sport. Later

I wish you a quick and complete recovery. I figure in about 5 years you'll be back with the next generation of Husky racers!

Wow Blake sorry to read about your leg. Hang in there and no doubt you'll be back riding again. At 51 I had my first big MX crash a couple of months ago and I am back at it now although the woods guys have convinced me to give the trees a chance. I must say it's kinda fun. Hey once you get your family going it starts all over with the mini's 50's, 70's 125's then a rest period, then as a grand dad it starts all over again LOL. Get well and the best of luck.
