• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Uncrating my 610TE

Blazes

Husqvarna
AA Class
Decided after lots of thinking to Uncrate my 610 TE. mMy 09 610 TE now has 30,000 km on and i have just done the cam chain for the first time only because i needed to replace a noisy cam carrier bearing ---

My girlfriend has now claimed my other 610 TE as well as my 07- 450 TE :excuseme:

But i have had a 07 - 510TE crated that i took out and will have to break in as well

Here she is opening up

As i go along i will be doing the normal mods i need to before life is breathed into her

Thank's --

Sooooooooooooo as we 610 riders know -- DUMP the DUMB excuse for a side stand -- unless you want your bike to drop before you even ride it and cut the head of the nut off to prevent the side stand from returning unexpectedly :(

I fitted the 630TE sidestand as i bought two when i fitted one to my other 610TE --
And that is DIRT on the stator cover as i just did a pre - fit with the carbon Fibre covers i made for her :)

Ok --now that out the way i need to take a serious look again at the zorst :( Just weighs a ton and clog the bike up as well as running it lean --experienced that before i fitted a Arrows can and PU kit --

The Arrows is nice but costly here in SA and to cat the can takes me about 2 hours top ---

Fit the can in a vice using two wooden blocks on the flat side where the mounting bolts go to prevent it scratching. Remove rivets and mark the straps as they do not go back any way except the way you removed them DSCN1766.JPG

Fit a 3/4 pipe or something solid in the back once the rivits are completely removed . And smack it --HARD

DSCN1767.JPG

Once you have the back piece far enough out to cut it --STOP -- :)

DSCN1769.JPG

Now Cut it off --but NOT through as the inner piece will be needed --- later, Just through the first section right next to the weld.

This is what it should look like

DSCN1805.JPG

Now --SMACK out the other side from the other direction and you will see the fat cat coming out :applause:

DSCN1784.JPG

Now you can cut this side right through as the tapered section left inside is more than enough to hold the new core you will be fitting 40mm or 1and a half inches

DSCN1787.JPG

Now be sure to polish all the sharp and rough edges off as they WILL cut you --unless you like bleeding --in that case -LEAVE AS IS

This is what you are left with after taking the fat cat out --

DSCN1792.JPG

Will post the rest of the mods --if anyone may be interested

Actually when you first talked about buying a 610 and keeping it in the crate, I thought you were a little paranoid. But actually you are a genius or a prophet. It also makes me envious, dammit! Long live the Husqvarna TE 610!

Thank's :) at one stage i also thought i was Nuts  but NOW --i know i did the right thing by buying a spare 610Te as i do not see anything out their that even remotely tickles my fancy --

I totally agree --Long Live the 610 Husqvarna :)

Now that out of the way --cut the thread off of the nipple --to save weight :)

DSCN1774.JPG

This is what it looks like before.

DSCN1775.JPG

Insert the nipple into the core section and tack weld it -

DSCN1801.JPG

Fit to the outer piece to make sure it goes over --

DSCN1800.JPG

Take some exhaust packing and fit it over the core --not too tight or the exhaust gas just pushes through--needs to absorb some of the sound waves -

Now all you need to do is fit and measure the core to fit snug --cut off and put together the same way as you removed --put a bit of silicone on the edge where the two end caps fit to seal nicely
Clear silicone works well.

Sorted ---

Next i took the Stock Metzeler Karoo 2 back tyre and swopped it with a 140 -80-18 Contnental TKC --I just prefer them and they seem to last a little longer -
DSCN1807.JPG
Quickly wired the grips ---
DSCN1810.JPG
Removed the Lambda sensor plug
DSCN1813.JPG
DSCN1815.JPG
Lambda --OUT
DSCN1819.JPG
Power up Kit from Hall's Racing --Great shop :)
DSCN1816.JPG

DSCN1820.JPG Plugged

Got a set of KTM aftermarket foot pegs that i had to machine at the back to fit --Luckily they were not ORANGE --then i would have had to spray them another colour ;)

I still wonder why they put that piece of tincan gear lever tip on? Real shyte that quickly get out of round, opens up and rips into boots  WTF? Hope is also on your list.

I have been lucky --for the 11 years i raced the 500cc Big Two Smokes i never tore a boot from any Husky gear lever -

But i am planning to make a nice carbon fibre mod that i have been looking into --

That one you have on your 610 TE i must say looks real cool Dom:thumbsup:

Replaced battery as this one --Enertek - gives much more cranks and the supplier showed me he can even start a car with it :)

DSCN1822.JPG

Remove air Box screws

DSCN1856.JPG

Put Copper Slip on them All as this prevents them from Seizing after the first wash -- Well thats what i found on my very first 610
