• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Unadilla Vintage Rewind June 5-7 2015

Looks like i'll be there Sat to watch  & Sun to race :D , unless my daughter can get off Friday

Just saw a email on the AHRMA website, there checking helmets dates, has to be 5 years or less to compete.

I know I've got a bunch that don't meet that & it's a good rule.

I do not blame you after the leg break you had last year. That would likely be the end of my riding career as far as my wife is concerned

Oh lets just call last year a little Hiccup or something.

I plan on riding this race again next year.

John Frackleton isn't going to be happy.... Newest date on an Arai MXC-PRO is 2005!

I will be there racing PVMX on my 83 250CR #5J. Can't wait!!!

And yes, they are checking helmet dates at tech inspection at all AHRMA Nationals. They were checking at Devil's Ridge...

I clicked on reply several times to reply to the helmet checks, and then decided not to reply because I don't have any thing good to say about helmet checking.

I'll be there with my race 67's and some "garage cleaning" parts. If anybody needs parts for 1995 and back bikes PM me and we can meet up there!

I'm all for safety but the helmet rule is a little overkill. It's funny how they want us to be safe with new helmets, but don't say anything about the antiquated brakes and suspension that we use. Who ever suggested it must work for a helmet manufacturer.

+1 WRX:thumbsup:. I have not seen the data to support that a 5 year old helmet is unsafe, but in theory I am all for being as safe as possible. Which is also why I have fresh, rebuilt and revalved suspension and new arced brake shoes on my bike.

I'm not sure but shouldn't a helmet be replaced after a serious crash? Or what's the rule of thumb? A helmet can fracture on the inside that won't show up on the outside. It's for our safety. I call them brain buckets. I had three bad crashes and probably would be here if the helmet didn't save me. I was knocked out three times.

I'd like to go to spectator but my lower back is really bad. Seen a surgeon and he won't operate. Need to see a pain specialist next. Bring on the pain relief and the back brace. I need to lose 100lbs. Crash diet. I vow to ride again it's in my heart to try.

Generally, helmets should be replaced after a hard impact. The liner is designed to absorb energy by crushing, the foam is sacrificial. Some high end helmets (Arai) can be returned to the manufacturer for inspection if you have a doubt about the severity of an impact.
