  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Yes at Rudys. Rode from Buffalo with my girl on the back. Where were all the Nortons? I was the only Commando. I had to keep my "S" model Norton because of those cool Husqvarna style upswept pipes!IMG_2464.JPG

This is completely awesome! I grew up about 25 miles from Unadilla and have great memories of getting dropped off at the track in the late 1970s with my buddies to watch all of the greats. Spent the day lurking outside the pits trying to glimpse the riders and get autographs, hanging out at gravity cavity and so forth. still have some old photos that I took of Decoster, Tony D., Hannah, etc. i remember that the big publicity one year was that " the Russians are coming!". That was super exotic back in those days, especially in rural upstate NY. Hope to get there for this event some year and thanks to all for the coverage. Great pictures! Looks like you actually got to ride at least parts of the track, eh? Back in the day they never had any races other than the pros and let the land rest in between events. The closest place to race as an amateur was over in Edmunston.
 
After not keeping track of mx for the past several decades, it has been really sobbering to see how many of the greats have ended up seriously injured, Chandler, DeStefano, Bailey. Even the local tracks seem so much more oriented toward toward large double jumps. Much more like stadium hybrid tracks than what was around in the late 70s and 80s. It is amazing to see the skills that even very young riders have now in order to negotiate these obstacles. Watching a few videos of Unadilla races on the net, and it seems like that track has stayed more or less the same as it was, though a few larger jumps appear to have been added to the natural terrain?
 
The track is pretty much real old school motocross.A few jump sections in the back corner.I am interested in watching the national in August and see if the keep the gavity cavity add on.I think it didn't work,too many ruts!I don't think the track will ever be changed.It's the real deal. There is nothing like flat out on the gas on the hills. Myself,I had a great time and will back next year.

NGW, I had you take my Husky for a ride to see what you thought about the 3rd gear situation. It wasn't as bad as we thought, although I did lose 3rd and 5th. They weren't chewed up. No broken splines or gears. Even the oil looked good. It was the four side cogs that got rounded off and then ruined the surface on the oposing gear 5. Should have it back together for Southwick.
