• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ty Davis on Husky?

Woo-hoo! I like that guy!

He started up a conversation with me at a national enduro a few years ago, asking me how my ride went and what I thought of the course and stuff. Just talked to me like I was any other rider there. I thought that was pretty cool.

Interesting. Spoke with Ty a few times. he is a cool guy. The biggest issue is he likes to mod his bikes until they blow :D

No far west Nationals (Arizona/California) in '09, so might not happen. Alligator is a National, so maybe Ty will show up for that.

crew remember,,Ty is the team owner,, he still flys but he is cultivating young guns like Garrison and Rookstool for the real task of racing against the western speedsters like Dietrich,Bonds,Abbott, Pearson etc etc . Zip-Ty Racing Team will be on Husky's for 09 yeah! i I think this kid Rookstool will show a wheel or 2 to the WORCS/HS top guns.

TY DAVIS TO RIDE HUSQVARNA FOR 2009 SEASON
Rookstool, Urquhart, and Burson to fill out Zip-Ty Racing roster.

December 29, 2008 -- Ty Davis is the latest addition to Husqvarna's off-road racing stable and the multi-faceted racing champion won't be riding alone. Three fast young riders Kevin Rookstool, Kevin Urquhart, and Nick Burson will complete the roster of Davis' Zip-Ty Racing team. Aboard 2009 Husqvarna TC and TXC 450cc and 510cc models the team will contest WORCS, Best In The Desert, AMA National Hare & Hound, and AMA Endurocross series events.

A force to be reckoned with, even at age 39, Davis' career milestones include a pair of titles each in the AMA National Hare & Hound and National Enduro series, an AMA Supercross title, four Baja 1000 wins, and #1 plates in the SCORE and Best In The Desert racing series. Davis has also translated his winning ways into Zip-Ty Racing, his Hesperia, CA based performance parts manufacturing and distribution company. His ability to pick the right lines played a key role in his decision to sign with Husqvarna as well.

"Racers are always focused on increasing their chances of winning and I'm no different. What attracted me to join up with Husky had a lot to do with the motorcycles and their commitment to our sport," said Davis. "The new bikes are very good, even better than anticipated. I'm impressed with their power and handling and the fact that they look like race bikes, too. We've done more testing with the 510 TXC model and I am certain that it has the potential to win races."

According to the man heading up Husqvarna's efforts to field a competitive racing presence, Sales & Marketing Manager Scot Harden, Davis and Zip-Ty Racing had been on his short list of hopefuls to ride for Husqvarna in 2009.

"We're thrilled to be supporting Ty Davis and Zip-Ty Racing throughout the 2009 season," said Harden. "From his first test rides on the new TXC Ty began making recommendations and improvements that'll make the race team more competitive and make future Husqvarna products better."

Davis is also enthusiastic about the trio of Zip-Ty Racing riders he's hired to compete with him on Husqvarnas: Kevin Rookstool, Kevin Urquhart and Nick Burson.

"I can't say enough about these guys. They're more motivated than any other riders I've ever had the chance to work with and I'm convinced they'll prove to be future champions," said Davis. "They each have experience in motocross and supercross which is similar to my background before I dedicated myself to off-road racing. They have impressed me with their level of motivation and continue to show me that they'll do whatever it takes to win."

Husqvarna Motorcycles NA President Mark Brady made unanimous Harden's decision to make Ty Davis and Zip-Ty Racing part of Husqvarna's competition strategy.

"Ty Davis is the rare kind of individual who makes it easier to justify the cost of going racing," said Brady. "Throughout his career he's continued to prove himself a winner," said Brady. "He and the other members of the Zip-Ty Racing team are welcome additions to our program and we look forward to their success in 2009."
