    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hello,
Just Purchased a 2011 TXCI-250, having Never owned a fuel injected Bike before I have some questions?
What is the single best way to get more pep from this bike? Seeems to lack alot of the punch my 05 Tc 250 had Which I expected... but Would like some more pep & Grunt.
Wondering If a guy just purchased a more free flowing exhaust do you need to go in and remap the fuel injection system or does the injection system make adjustments to changes.like this on it's own without remapping? IE..Air fuel ratio. Also what tuner would you guy's recommend ?
2nd ...Regarding gearing changes what size rear sprocket would be the safest bet to use. for more bottom end torque & A little less top end Speed?
All of my riding is done in the Colorado rocky mountains & Wyoming From base elevation of 5280 up to 12,500ft On fire roads & single track.

I also recently purchased an 11 Txc 250 and box stock it is kinda weak. I've put in the 12 port injector and 2012 race ecu. That helped with the off idle stumble that the bike had and woke it up a little. I've also put on the Arrow Ti Full System and it made a HUGE difference with no adjustment necessary regarding the EFI. Roll on power in the mid range is now awesome and got some more revs out of it too. I think any aftermarket system would do the same, but if you look these are on closeout at a few places now for about 500 bucks! I think you are gonna love it!
 
I was thinking a aftermarket exhaust as well it really woke up my 05 Tc-250 Where can you by the 12 point injector?

The dealer should be able to tune it somewhat on iBeat. Set the TPS and adjust the CO 1,2.3. If you put an AF meter on it it would likely run best in the 13.5 area. TE (street legals) injected models have a narrow band O2 sensor and run lean unless you power them up (remove sensor and block connector to access race mode). At your altitude you won't need high octane fuel.... Racers use special oxygenated mixes at those altitudes IIRC. People seem to have had some success with that Kawi 12 port injector and race ECU but you might see what a straight tune can do first, then a less restrictive exhaust.

Dealer offered a Power up using the Husqvarna programing software also changing out rear sprocket thought that alone would help out quite a bit.
 
Get the JD Jetting FI Tuner. It will transform the bike. I do lots of high-altitude riding as well and the JD tuner allows you to lean things out a bit on the trail when it starts running too fat, which from my experience is above 10K feet or so, depending on your initial settings.

I'm kinda confused....... The dealer didn't give you a Power Up kit, but offered to re-flash the ecu and add a rear sprocket?
 
as far as I know here.. the TXC bikes we sell have the power up kit done from the factory.. The TE models have it as an optional procedure..
 
The 12,500 would be the ultimate extreme, & o2 tank would come in handy for sure, Main riding would be somewhere between 7500ft -10,500 or so.
One of the TXC -250 Reviews online had some Magazine guy's review the Bike , & they used the JD Tuner they said that in the rocky Mountains It still did not help much So I am a little confused as to which direction to go.
Dealer did not do the power up ahead of time before the sale but offered it about the time I was getting ready to load it up? Being my 1st fuel injected bike I was not sure how this should have been handled? Wanted to charge $300.00 for the reflash, remap , remove the 02 sensor, adjust throttle stop, & Install larger sprocket & chain and better air filter along with 3 oil changes Sounds reasonable to me But my concern is this. I purchased a fuel injected bike to forget about tweaking & all of this stuff, would you have to adjust the EFI at different altitudes or set & forget for the most part?

I mean........ didn't they give you the Power Up kit with the bike when you purchased it? My dealer did. Hell.......... they even explained to me what part did what and even offer to install it for free when I was ready.
 
Nope, Only offered to do the tuning & other items mentioned for me but the tuner would not go with me.
 
It's not a case of "constant tweaking" so much as it is being able to make changes on the fly if you need or want to. My experience with the Husky EFI is that the TE250 does do a good job of altitude compensation and you can "set and forget", but after around 10-10500 feet, it starts to run a little fat in the low rpm ranges. Dropping the green and yellow (low-medium rpm mixtures) a half point or point on the JD tuner when going, say, over Imogene pass gives it better low-end throttle response and I don't have to keep the revs high and slip the clutch as much to keep my momentum. Takes about 10 seconds to do the adjustment, most of that time being extracting the tuner from where I keep it behind the number plate.

Charging $300 to do the power-up kit, reflash and a few oil changes sounds pretty steep to me but dealers have to make their money somewhere :excuseme:
 
I would call Halls, I think the ecu and injector sell just under 400 bucks and with that and the exhaust, bike runs amazing. Night and day from stock. I am only about 500 ft elevation though. Those guys there definitely know these bikes.
 
Also im running 13- 50 and it works well most of the time. In really tight woods I would go with a 51 or 52 tooth rear

This level of power-up you describe is done by some dealers at your option on setup... the 12 hole injector/ECU/Pipe package is always extra AFAIK....
 
I'm still learning, but I just got done installing the power up kit minus the chain and sprocket. I also installed a FMF Powercore 4 S/O also. Big time difference from stock. Still trying to figure out the JD Jetting programmer thou. But I will say this, it wont stutter or die on me(not yet at least) with the JD stock settings. Im impressed.
 
Gentlemen you are a wealth of info, I do appreciate it, Guess I will have to do some thinking & greenback crunching But at this point sounds like the consenus
