  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TXC450 too much Bike for me?

Pete

Husqvarna
AA Class
I currently ride an 05 te450 which i love, but i am 100kg kitted up and the 45mm fork is not plush enough. Otherwise i would keep it. My wife ride the 08te450 and its SO nice to ride. I really want a nice plush ride, is the TXC known for being plush?

I am almost 38 (arghh!!!) and so am slowing up a little bit, I ride bush only. Lots of hills, rivers, little bit of single track and mostly just bush tracks.

TXC450 are on mega sale here in Oz and i am half tempted to buy one. But not sure if i might be over doing it, bit too much of a race bike for flying around the bush.

Any one else got one of these machines? What sort of riding do you do with it? Do you wish you bought the TE?

I just bought an 09 TXC 450, and have only put on 135 miles, but so far it is good for most of what i ride, in real tight technical stuff it may be a little much, but from what you are saying you ride, it will probably work well, i like mine, and am happy with it.

I have a 09 TXC250 and love it. It has plenty of power to haul my 220 lb. butt around, and at 40 years old it's all the bike I need for single track woods riding. The six speed tranny really allows it to haul in the open stuff too. Not that it is slow by any means, but as the old saying goes " It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow".

I would look to buy a good 09 TE 450 with to 50 forks. I do not know if the TXC can be rec registered in Victoria. The bike you are contemplating is a great machine but a beast and can be a handful in the tight.

If you love the '05 TE450, why not just get the suspension revalved and sprung for your weight and riding conditions.
I did that on my '05 TE510 and made a big difference.....especially with the harsh front forks.

IMO, a correctly done custom fit suspension is the No.1 mod anyone can do to their bike.......new or old.

Anyway, to answer you original question........if you handle the TE450 you ride now ok, then no, I don't think a TXC450 would be too much bike.

Thanks. Coupla a days of thinking and reading this type of stuff and i have decided to hang on for the moment and not be tempted by the big sale on these bikes right now.

I already did have the forks redone...its not so bad now, but will never be as nice as the 50mm.

I would get a TXC 250. More than enough power. I am 6'3" 210 and have had nothing but good showings soo far on the bike. I love my 250f!! One of the few bikes that runs just as good putting around the yard as it does in an all out harescramble war for 3 hours. The bike is at a tie right now for the best bike I have ever owned.. (Vstrom 1000 adventure bike is the other one)
