  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

txc 450 repalcing rekluse with stock clutch Q.

Darrell Drew

Husqvarna
Just bought a 08 TXC 450. It has a Rekluse Pro in it and the stock setup.

I want to put it back to stock for the moment.

What is required to do so? Did the clutch hub have to come off or any other work to install the rekluse?
Is it a simple matter of removing the rekluse outer cover and balls etc and replacing the stock cover and springs? Are the plates and fibers still oem and in the same order?

Any wierd spacers or other pieces?

The bike came setup with the rekluse and I am not familiar with the rekluse or the Husky.

Last few bikes were orange 2 stks.

Thanks in advance fellas

If you got all of the stock clutch, there should be a hub and steel plates and so yes they do need to be changed. If you go to the Rekluse website, they have videos showing how to install and set up their various clutches. You should be able to figure it out from there. If not, the people at Rekluse are very helpful.
I would leave it in and see if I liked it. If you give it a chance, you probably will.

I have ridden the bike a couple times so far. I love the antisatll feature but I don't like the clutch feel or the release action at all. Shifting is also kinda weird as the shift lever doesn't want to seem to release unless you briefly unload which causes a less than smooth riding style.

I think I am likely too aggresive for the rekluse, at least this versin of the PRO anyway.

So when I take the clutch cover off I will need to remove the entire clutch assembly AND remove the hub? Is there a spacer behind the hub?
From here I need to reassemble the stock plates and fibers and then the stock cover/springs ect??

Yes there is one behind the hub and you have to keep it on the bike(i have a Z start pro), i will suggest you to download the installation instruction from Rekluse and just go backward, it is pretty straight forward and easy as long you still have all the original parts to return to stock, steel plate, trust bearing etc etc. http://www.rekluse.com/191-856_z-Start_Pro_Husky_450_510.pdf

The other thing you might look at when you check out the webdsite is the set up. The engagement pressure and rpm are adjustable. There is a good chance you could adjust it to your liking. I have auto clutches on two bikes and had each one apart 3-4 times before I found what I liked the most for each one.

If the shifting is weird & the lever is sticking, it is not because of the Rekluse - I guarantee you. Do a search on here, as that subject(sticky shifting) gets discussed from time to time. There are some components of the shift mechanism that may need servicing on your bike.

Also, as the others posted, spend some time learning about the Rekluse. Once you get to know it and get it set up properly, you'll never go back.

Also believe me, you are not too aggressive for the Rekluse, nobody is.
