I wouldn't mind having a tx300 to add to the collection!
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
so nobuddy likes my white 300 freeride idea im crushed![]()
Austrian TE250/300 have a "Wide Ratio" 6 speed, same as a KTM XC-W 250/300. First and second are low and you have a jump to third and a tall sixth gear. With stock 13/50 US spec gearing it will go slow in the tight and do 90 mph in sixth. 250/300 6 speed "Close Ratio" tranny moves first and second higher and closer to third and then third through sixth are the same. The old 5 speed XC-W and XC trannys were very different, real wide ratio and close ratio.Any possibilities of a wider ratio 6 speed in the 300TX versus a closer ratio 5 speed or the ultra wide ratio 5 speed? I have no knowledge as that isn't what I am looking for but KTM is trying to differentiate the two brands.
How fast do you guys go? My '12 Husaberg TE250, which has the same tranny as Husky TE and KTM XC-W, with 13/52 gearing (2 up on rear), will go 80 mph in 6th with throttle to spare. That's no dream either, that's on an ICO Checkmate, that's calibrated within .001 in a measured mile. I never tried it with stock 13/50, but has to be good for 90+ mph. Are you sure your main jet isn't holding you back? 250 definitely revs out further than 300....I hear you. I've looked for 7th and even 8th gear more than a few times.![]()
Looks like it on all the big bikesAir forks...
