• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Trying out some new boots

I just ordered some $150 (and free shipping) Forma Terrain EVO boots form Atomic moto. I have some other Formas I really liked but wore the soul out with my sharp Fastway pegs. I got these because i really liked my old Alpinestar Vectors and these look similar and I really like the quality on my old Formas (Italian made). I also bought more inexpensive boots because between all my riding, nasty weather riding, Fastway footpegs and stuff i tend to destry boots in about a season. OH, and they make these with molded or regular sole. Will let you know what I think of them after I use them. BTW Atomic moto has some really cool vids and explanations on thier site. Good stuff.

They look they'd be great for a more relaxed kind of ride. I bet theyre comfortable as heck.
Still lovin my Gaerne SG10s but this is nice to see how a nicer priced boot fares. $150 is dirt cheap for boots.

One of the vids on his site has info on this boot, the Moose boot and the Gaerne GX-1 all inexpensive MX boots. I have Gaere's now and love them but went through the soles way faster than I would have liked. The molded sole like on these seem tougher. At least they were on my Vectors. We will see.

Cool looking forward to the results. I have an older pair of Gaerne SG1s I'd like to have re-soled for supermoto. Anyone know of a good option for that?

Ive been checking out the Formas and Jett. My SG10's will last forever with how often I ride but it's still fun to look :)

I found a place here that sells that brand. I'm on the cusp of buying a pair.

Nice looking boots. If they only had an optional sole for those that need to be a little taller on occasion. :D

I wish someone made a decent set of 3/4 height boots. My shin protector on my Leatt knee guards is too long for a normal height boot.

Boots came, look like real nice quality for $150. Time will tell. Will report after riding. Oh, the sole insert is replaceable which actually seems odd for the price of the boots.

Pricing is all about margins ... Ain't 'margins' a cool word when used in the pricing concept?

Makes you think of butter some how ... -> 'Pricing is all about butter' sounds even better.

I'll be checking back to read your test results on these. K said the old one's were made in Italy but it would be good to know if these are too.

They look nice, I'll bet they are waterproof as well. I like the style as I'm constantly ripping the toe caps off of my SG10s in the rocks. I had a cheap set of similar boots from Rocky Mountain a few years back. Fit and felt good but broke down fast. With boots I think you definitely get what you pay for in protection. My SG10s saved my feet more than a few times. Keep us posted.

Yeah mine are gone on my SG's too. I had AlipineStar Vectors and liked them a lot, not for everyone but I love them. These are very similar and have the formed sole which is replaceable.

I have heard and read on numerous websites of many people who have used this company for their resoling needs and all have been positive an/or favorable. Never have tried them myself.
