• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Troubleshooting trailtech h2 light

firecrotch

Husqvarna
Pro Class
My trailtech light went out last ride. The connectors had come loose before so I thought heck...Ill just solder them to all their respective matching colored wires. Nope. Then I changed out the fuse to a new one, nope again. The kill part of the switch kills the engine as expected so its not that. The grip heaters work awesome so theres plenty power. Its connected to same yellow wire as grip heaters. That means its the trail tech light itself right? Anything else to troubleshoot?

Is it the Trail Tech "X2" Light? Is it the HID or Halogen model? How old is the light? What bike do you have it installed on?

X2 about two years old powered up to yellow wire on wr300. Been perfect all this time. Called trailtech and they said attach power wires to a car battery to test the lights actualy work.

That is correct. Do you know if your light is an HID or Halogen version of the X2? Hooking the light directly to a battery will supply 12v DC power directly to the light. Are both lights out on it or just one light?

I have the Trail Tech X2 halogen. Is the bulb burned out? If not, test the light with a 12vdc battery. If one of the lamps is not working open up where the connectors are behind the black inner shell. I've had both my low and hi-beam connectors start shorting out over the past year from vibration, chaffing, and/or water getting into the electrical connectors. There will be black carbon from where the connectors are shorting and arcing and melting the rubber insulation. I hope this helps

Jesus christ on friday I am a dumass. The most obvious thing in the world was it. There was an extra wire hanging off one of the yellow wires. There was another one I followed from the switch of thelight. voilia-its now working. When in doubt-always rule out the obvious, Plus I couldnt see the rats nest of wires in the evenings after work. Just not enough light in my garage.. Had to wait till daylight this weekend to truely dig in there
