  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Triple Clamps

I am wondering if anyone makes an aftermarket set of top and bottom triple clamps for an 09 300?

I can't keep my wheel in line with the bars. They always tend to move off from each other in same way no matter what I do. Wonder if the triples are bent.

Any other ideas? Anyone ever bent an axle? I can't imagine you could bend a fork in any way. thanks

Yup bent axles can happen if someones claimed a tree it could of done tripples in, head stock could be bent forks too.
Try ebay lots of people breaking bikes could get lucky there, or there are aftermarket companys doing sexy billet clamps.
I would strip forks down and take yolks off put them on a flat surface to see if theres any wobble and look for stress fractures or damage to them.
Then i would go over the frame and check there and make sure you need the relevant part your after.

Or could be your bar clamps bent.

Do you have bar risers with the oem rubber bushings? If so your bushing may be worn out and/or the bolts that secure the bar clamps to the triple clamps are bent or just loose. I have this set up and my bars always get out of line with the front tire after a hard crash if the bike hits the ground on the bars. For the first number of times I kept trying to realign the bars by loosening the bar clamp bolts and then retightening after everything was straight. It finally donned on me that the bushings, because they are rubber, were the culprit and we're allowing the bars to shift slightly when one end hit the ground. The quick and simple fix is to turn your bars all the way to the left or right (depending on which way they are misaligned) and then give the end of the opposite side of the bar (e.g. the left end of the bar if they are turned to the right) a couple of hits with your palm or other to put the bar back in line with the wheel. Then tighten the two large bolts that hold the bar clamps to the triple clamps. You may also need to replace the bushings and/or the bolts of it's happening a lot. Or replace the rubber bushing with nylon or aluminum ones from BRP.

Yeah, I'm going to check the bolts. I have a sneaky suspicion that is it. Like the idea of the alum bushings.Permanent solution. Thanks

Bent...and super rusted in place.. bolt was the culprit. Too late to get a new one at the hardware store tonight. Thanks for all the tips. I would never have thought that a bent mounting bolt would happen. Thanks again!!

The BRP alum bushings are listed for 10-14. Would they work for an 09? I know they have different fork tube diameters, but what about the handlebar mounting bolts...same??
