• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TrailTech X2 fairing/headlight

Finally got around to installing a trail tech X2 halogen. Ordered the husky 610 version, so it was plug and play. Only used the fork straps to mount it. Will figure the fender later, if at all, since it's plenty secure with just the fork straps. The bottom mounts that come with the kit, or otherwise, would help with the downward low beam angle though, so will look into it as time permits. Easy feat, but performance is much better than stock, so should eliminate the safety issue associated with the stock husky unit. Still wish there were other options though. Really not much out there, especially now that this bike is discontinued. Oh well.

There should be holes each side on the bottom of the light . On my 610 i pulled the bottom of the light close in to the triple and ziptied it to the triple. It stayed put and the angle was good .

I used some Velcro to position and secure the assembly. I had to reposition the horn as it was a pretty tight fit.

I too used velcro at the bottom. Screwed a piece of aluminum angle across the triple clamp stuck velco on the bottom of the light fairing and the angle. I moved the horn to the upper triple clamp below the dash instrument. Has worked well.

DSC06155s.JPGDSC06157s.JPGDSC06158s.JPGDSC06159s.JPG I made a carbon fiber shroud for my two 610TE,s

Used 10 watt 1000 lumen led lights I fitted directly to the triple clamps so no more lights jumping up and down --works for both my Huskies

Done a few conversions here for guys and they all happy

THEY CAN SEE THE LIGHT NOW :applause:

I purchased the Trail Tech, and when looking to mount it noticed that the plastic "arms" that have the rubber mounting straps attached to them are much shorter than the stock unit, giving much less space behind the light setup for the horn (which needs to be moved/relocated) and wires.

How do you guys remedy this? I like the idea of the grommets in the fender holding the bottom down, but it still leaves precious little room behind the light setup. It would seem that that would be problematic in the future as more wires would rub, etc.

I drilled the rivets out of the horn bracket and moved the horn to the rear of the bracket and re-riveted it there.
