  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Trailtech Vapor Stealth WR300

I looked around at some old posts and didnt find anything specific. I have a Trailtech Vapor Stealth to mount on my 2012 WR300. Looking for some ideas/posts/pictures/etc on powering the computer. I dont have a headlight on my bike. Appparently have to power it from the stator. Appreciate any details on this.
Thanks

The Vapors do not "need" bike power; you can run them off the internal battery if you want.

That being said, even without a headlight, your 2012 should have the factory reg/rec because it has the Ducati ignition. Under the tank there is an "extra" wire, which normally plugs into the headlight harness, which should be +12V power. You can probably utilize that! I believe it is the yellow wire, but I am not 100% certain. In any case there should only be one wire hanging off the reg/rec, just double-check it with a multimeter.

I know there were other posts on here somewhere showing the wiring diagram for the lights, but I don't recall where. You can try to dig one of those up.

Here's what I'm just starting to do ...

I purchased an extra battery and a wall charger ... The charger plugs into the unit same as the hot wire for the device. This device is about essentialx2 for me if I'm going to return to some of the places I stumble across ...And its always cool to look at where you went on the last ride ... Sometimes with some helmet cam footage, you can follow the map and watch a video of the area also ...

These guys (Justin) give very good email service for sure and support ...

Any one know where the hot leads off the stator are at on a 010 TC250? I'd like to have this also as a backup plan...

I ran the Vapor off the yellow plug described in this thread. Works great. I entered 2205 on my wheel size too. That sound about right?
