• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TR650 replacement piston

sussurf

Husqvarna
AA Class
TR650 Piston Terra/Strada
I'm just putting feelers out there for those that may have a motor in need.
I have a bike that needs a new piston but they are NLA. Even used are scarce or very expensive.
And in case you didn't know, any other Rotax 650 single piston will not cut it. The Husqvarna motor was specifically tuned by the the R&D team with forged internals and the BMW versions are cast and not suitable.
There was a guy here who rebuilt his engine using a custom manufactured piston from a Greek engineering firm. These are not forged. I have had quotes from other firms and was quoted ridiculous prices.
I did get a positive response from Wiseco in the US and their service sounds great, forged & machined to suit.
However they require a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Please indicate if you are seriously interested and I will try & organize a group buy.

i'm in europe and just replacing the top end of the engine together with the cylinder and piston head. so il will have the old parts available

Where did you source the head & piston?
If your old piston is undamaged I'll happily take it.

sorry for the late reply. i was lucky and found another husky engine from a guy on advrider. it was a low mileage engine with bearing failure or something. mine had a bent valve so gonna make 1 out of 2. it's still at the mechanic so after the new year i can give you more details and see how we can make this happen

Thanks so much & good luck! :applause:

The engine I have is in great shape, apart from a defect in the piston. I'm happy the engine is open and I can see the bores, the head, crank etc. so I know it's good. The best solution and cheaper if I can just get a piston.

hello. got my bike fixed and managed to get all the remaining parts back from the mechanic. i don't have a car so had to carry everything with the bike. so here's a picture with the husky carrying a husky crankcase.

now about the piston. my bike died at 66k km. took it to a mechanic, opened the engine and found a broken valve spring and a bent valve. pictures attached. i was lucky and found another engine with a different problem so the mechanic could make 1 out of 2. upon inspecting the other engine the mechanic said that the piston, cylinder and whole top end was in better shape than mine since it had fewer km so better to change everything which he did. so now i have my original piston that i can give.

i am a bit reluctant in letting it go since these are near impossible to find, but hey! i hope i won't be needing anymore major repairs on the bike since it costs a lot and i do hope to find another bike that would bring me the same joy as this husky
