  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tool Kit TE/TXC 449/511

FMF

Husqvarna
I am looking for a tool kit for a TXC 511. I see the 6XX guys had a good go through it but, I couldn't find anything specific to the 449/511.
Here is what I have found so far and my thoughts:
Trail Toolz - Seems to have a kit no idea if they have one specific to Husky 449/511. Email Sent and I will report back.

Blue Ridge Racing - Has what look to be high quality/$$ kits but no idea if it is customized to the 449/511 and for what they are asking I want 100%. Email Sent and I will report back.

Motion Pro - Has a generic kit that seems like it might be a good starting point but seems like it needs a lot of customizing.

CruzTools - really generic and it doesn't seem like a lot of potential.

Thoughts? What are you using? I would appreciate the input.

I just go over my bike, and decide what I can do on the trail, and make my own....the ready made kits are fine I
guess, but mine is wrapped in shop towels and zip lock bags...

I wouldn't buy anyone's generic kit and hope that you have the right tools when you break down in the middle of no where. Like JP said, the best thing to do is figure out what tools you need to fit your bike. You will need some spare parts too, a front tube at minimum because it can be used for the rear in a pinch/inflation device. Don't forget a couple med supplies too. :)

Whenever I get a new bike I do a full service on it, and write down the tools used out of my tool box. Then I buy them and keep them on the bike, and I use THOSE tools to work on that bike with. Each of my bikes has its own usable base set of tools. Some may say that it's overkill or a waste of money buying duplicate tools like that, but that makes the tool kit just one less thing for me to worry about assembling/finding/making sure is on board whenever I want to ride a bike.

My 449 doesn't break down. My tools are at home.

However I did need to ride about 10 miles on a rear flat the other day.

Historical tidbit...here in gold county they extensively used 16 penny staples to secure things like water lines. Turns out they lock right onto knobbies and won't let go until they slowly drain your air.

Hmmm, perhaps I should re-think bringing more than a 8mm/10mm wrench and a combo screwdriver.

Whatever you do find a tool you can snake in and tighten the shifter with. Not EZ to get to and can work loose. I found a offset boxend wrench thats does it for me.

Blue ridge makes great stuff, unfortunately they are at least two months backordered right now.
