    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

TM Design Plastic Skid Plate for 250/310 platform...Thoughts?

I find that Im not going to ride if the ambient temperature is below 30....so that seems a bit extreme. TM makes pretty stout stuff so I will be surprised if it isnt stout enough for anything we can throw at it.
 
I have a Up-Tite plate , very nice quality , might trade for the new TMD to match my TM guide. $100 if interested.
 
So far it looks like they are only available for the Xlites.... I have no complaints about the Uptite on my 511, but would consider the TM unit if they ever make one for my big bikes.
 
I put one on my TC250. Took a little bit of fudging to fit properly. The wings that protect each side of the motor were touching the oil filter on one side and ignition cover on the other. Easy fix though. I wedged small pieces of wood in between the motor and winged areas of the skid plate to space it out to where I wanted it. I then used a heat gun, got the skid plate wings nice and hot, let it cool, pull the wood pieces out and Voila! It stayed put. Overall, the plate looks cool, covers more than my EE skidplate did and is much lighter.
 
P1010088.jpg I recieved my TM Desings Plate today, Mixed feelings about it. On the Husky it mounts in 3 spots, Top like stock plate, Middle with over frame rail hooks and back with capture nuts

In the Photo one of the capture nuts is not on it. The plate will be a pita to remove for oil changes and cleaning

Here are a few pictures with it on the bike, It is not fully mounted just hanging there. It definally will need to be heated and bent, they tell you that in the instructions.

Here are a few more pictures, If keep it I will heat it and bend it away from the oil filter and ignition cover,
The skid plate apears to be heavy duty but I really would like something that is easy to take off. But I do like the Quite non bendable polly plate, Not sure if I will use it or not

What is the "hyde" guards you are talking about? Is that the one sold direct from Husky? and also everyone knows that enduro engineering makes an option for the x-lites as well, right? I like this design, ive had their chain guides and the things are awesome, i can't see why this would be much worse. Even if it takes more time to drain the oil, the better peace of mind this gives me during riding would be worth it.

Hyde makes plastic skid plates too. I'm not sure if they are exclusively KTM but atleast are well known in that community
 
I really liked my Hyde skidplate on my 2008 TXC450, the feel was great, I drilled it for both air flow and drainage.
Just be aware is you are hard on your skid plate (like us), it will wear down, like anything plastic and accept that fact.

they look similar to what comes stock on the txc models now, yes? or maybe it just looks similar to me.
 
I would really like a skid plate that is a 1 bolt setup. Hooks over the rear and bolts on in the factory bolt hole. It also must provide excelent protection. The bike will spend its life in the rocks and makes mangled bolt removal tough.
Meca apears to bolt up this way , but I have only seen them on there websight not in person

Any others plates out there that bolt this way

Well I ordered one and for the life of me can't figure out where the back two nuts are supposed to attach to the frame? or an easy way to get it over the frame rails for the second set of mounts. Pain for sure, but hopefully worth the money for actual protection.
 
One little suggestion, glue the rubber grommet/spacers to the skidplate. Makes it much easier to mount without worry about them getting away.

And yes it a bit of a mystery why TM didnt use the stock mounting method.
