  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hello, just wondered which tires do you use for Enduro, and what is the difference between an expensive tire vs a cheap one?

Stock then Dunlop. Not too sure about the differnece between cheap and expensive. I know the rubber compound is different. Not sure if some tires have more ply's or not. It would be nice to know.

This is a question that I have been thinking about, had michelin on te since new. Realy like them but they are bit pricey. Had a price check from local bike shop $195 retail. Ouch. Walked out of shop phoned Husky in shop inBrisbane Thay said to use a Pirelli scorpion mx extra. As have a te250 went to 110/100-18. Will check out tyre this weekend at Inglewood trail ride lot of white rock hills.

Pirelli MT43. Not put one on my TE250 yet (later this week though) but have one on another bike. It has so much grip it is like cheating, especially around 10-ish psi. Also gets amazing tread life both on and off road. Since it does not work like a knobby for its traction (relies on contact patch, not digging into the ground) it has traction until it's just about bald. Much smoother and quieter ride on-road than a knobby too. Also, if you care about this type of thing, has much less impact on tearing up the trail.

Here out west, both desert and woods racers are switching to these, not just the dual-sporting crowd, which swear by them too.

I ran last seasons enduro on Bridgstones 304/404 and really liked them. Good traction, little chunking. This year im trying the very similar Bridgstone 203/204.

Michelin S12xc front and rear for anything from damp to flood conditions. Not the best for hard pack but I use them all year round and get by fine.

I really like Michellin tyres, the S12's are great in sand and mud but the rear tyre wears out quickly in rocky terrain which is where I do most of my riding.
The S12 front is my favourite tyre as I find it gives the most grip and it wears really well.
I have Michellin MS3's on my TC 250 at the moment and the front tyre is similar to the S12 but after 3rides the rear is almost destroyed and wears quicker in rocks than the S12 rear, but the traction is really good.
I also like Bridgestone tyres particularly the 404 as I find it hooks up in anything even when worn. The 204 is also great in sand and mud but wears out quicker in rocks than the S12.
I haven't found a Bridgestone front tyre that I like and I've tried a few, I find they don't have the mid corner grip of the S12's.
I'm going to try Pirelli MX Extras as I've never tried them but heard good things
