  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Tires for my 2012 Te310.

A Class
I have the Metzler Karoo tires the Huskys come with. I am not head over heals to say the least. Looking for better traction off road. I hardly touch asphalt. I load it up on my Ram and off to the Pine Barrens I head. Any suggestions on a good off road tire that can handle a minimum amount of street.

Motoz Tractionator I/T 80/100/21 and 110/100/18. dump the Karoos. Stay with a DOT. Much more stable on the street. The smaller rear makes your 310 so much more fun off road.

I run Pirelli Scorpion Pro 90/90/21 on the front and a Pirelli MT 21 110/80/18 on the rear. The very low profile rear will give a lower seat height and it makes the bike more nimble. It will also lower the gearing.

For majority dirt but still able to hold up to street and not wear too fast, it's hard to beat the Dunlop 952's

I thought that perhaps it was just me, but the stock front tire seems really dicey on any hard pack

The front Karoo is dicey on anything. One of my projects over the winter will be installing a new set of Motoz DOT tires on my 310.

It struck me as odd that you would wait for winter but they I remembered, in Alaska you only have two seasons. This winter and last winter.

I mean that in the best possible way.

:D

I ride all dirt, only pavement to connect trails or on a dual sport event. I dumped the Karoos as soon as I bought my 2010 TE250. I like a soft tire, I am running the Bridgestone 203/204 front/ rear combo. They hook really well, but will wear fast on the street.
